Hi,
I am a lurker here at Amity's...never have anything cool to say....so I stay hiding in the back ground. :)
Figured what the heck, I'll just put myself out there and ask a question.
My son started preschool 3 weeks ago for 3 half days a week. He has been made star of the week for this coming week. Well, one of the star of the week perks is he gets to bring in snack for both the 3 year old and 4 year old class for the 3 days that he attends!!! Yikes....that is 50 kids plus 15 teachers!!!! I am not feeling like quite the star however. I suck at putting stuff together. We try to eat healthy but are far from perfect. For ex: other kids have fruit roll ups, candy, cupcakes in their lunches. While we do eat sweets here it is usually just an occasional social thing.......well I closet eat my occasional chocolate..........hehe. Riley brings a sandwich, carrots, home made trail mix......you get the idea..... for lunch. So, long story short....what in the world can I make for 3 days in a row (a total of 150 snacks for the week) that will be healthy and appealing to children who are not as bland as my family???? Ideas anyone???
Some ideas I thought but then wasn't sure because of peanut allergies....
Make little spiders out of crackers with peanut butter in the middle.
Make mini fruit muffins and figure out how to put A B C on them since this month is about those letters.

Dorky? Any better ideas out there?

Thank you!

I like the mini muffin idea and for the ABC part, what about doing a different one each day? First day do something apple, 2nd day banana, 3rd day cherry, coconut, chocolate??

What have other "star of the week" parents brought in for snacks?

Do you know of any allergies in the class? I would seriously look into that before making anything!!! :( My son's school has the kids bring their own snacks everyday for this very purpose. You never know who has an allergy and some parents aren't bright enough to inform schools of said allergy. Anyway, if I had to bring snacks for my sons class, I guess it would be something simple like some muffins or something along those lines. Pretty generic, low allergen type thing.. I'm no help am I? LOL His snacks this past week pretty much consisted of whatever I could find prepackaged! But next week will be some fresh grapes or whatever fruit I can find when I go grocery shopping this weekend.

WOW I can't get over having to take that many either LOL That would do a number on our budget.

Crackers and cheese (LOL thats what I'm eating now)
You could get the little round crackers and a block of cheese -
My boys call these Lunchables LOL I wouldn't buy the preboxed ones

carrots and celery sliced up with something to dip in

Fruit cups - whatever fruit is on sale this week cubed up - apples, bananas, grapes

a combo of fruit and veggies cup

Oatmeal cookies - could through in some rasians or apple chunks

Or what about making some kind of bread ... like banana blueberry, apple ect .... might be easier than muffins (but I only have one muffin tin so it would take me all day to make 50 LOL)
You could give them a slice with with a couple slices of friut on top.
