Hello! I am hoping someone can help me with step by step directions on crocheting a cap for my daughters waldorf doll that is in the works. I know how to make granny squares and thats about it. A clear and concise set of instructions would be so helpful. I am hoping to finish her doll by her birthday, the 19th. Please, I am begging! LOL Thank you for your help!

If not, I have Kinderdolls 2 other Waldorf doll making books, I can look them up for you. (I haven't taken the time to make one yet myself.)

I honestly am not sure how to make the cap itself. I understand how to hook the long hair into the cap, but I am not sure how to crochet a spiral cap. Any suggestions or pictutres would be so helpful. Thank you for responding!

to crochet a spiral you begin by chaining about 4 stitches.

then join the last stitch to the first stitch with a slip stitch to make a ring.

chain 2...start making double crochets by inserting your hook through the center of the ring (not into the chain stitches that make up the ring). Fill the ring with as many double crochet stitches as you can comfortably fit.

When your ring is full make one double crochet stitch in the side of the first double crochet stitch...then make your next dc in the top of that same, first dc. Continue to dc in a spiral. If the cap is looking like it will be too cylindrical for the head make 2 dc's in some holes to increase its size. If it's looking too flat...more like a doily than a hat...then decrease some stitches by dc'ing them together. Usually I don't have to increase or decrease at all since mohair yarn is fairly stretchy and forgiving.
