View Full Version : What kind of feedback should I leave - ebay buyer not paying

Someone won an auction on book I was selling for $1.35 plus shipping. I've emailed them twice and it's been 9 days since the end of auction but I still haven't heard from them. I emailed this today:
Hello,
I thought I'd make a final effort to contact you about your winning bid on The Wump World. Please let me know if you intend to pay for this item or if there is some extenuating circumstance that prevents you from doing so. I have sent you the total twice already, but can send it again if you need it.
I checked their feedback and they have 0  I'd hate to leave neg. feedback over a $1.35 item. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow (they have 10 days to pay) should I leave neg or neutral fb?

honestly, even for $1.35 item i'd leave negative. If they can't pay a small amount like that what do you think they'd do if they won something for $20 or so dollars. Feedback shouldn't be left because of the amount of the sale...it should be left for the overall transaction. if they're not contacting you or paying I say leave a neg. you've given them more then enough time.
much love

I would forget about it.
The only time I have gotten a negative feedback at ebay was when I left negative feedback on a non paying bidder.
They sent one back at me claiming they never got the item.
So for me, I do not leave negative or neutral feedback on non paying bidders.
Hope

I think you should leave negative if you don't hear from them. If you're worried about retaliation, wait until the last minute on the 90 day time frame to leave it and then they won't be able to leave you negative when it's not your fault.

Candace, your buyer isn't in hurricane country by chance, are they?

I would have already left negative feedback. I have won auctions before and forgot to send payment (forgot that I had set up an esnipe bid) but I only needed one reminder :) ... 9 days and 2 emails is enough.. post a negative feedback and then file a non-paying bidder alert with ebay to recoop your fees. Be prepared for a retalitory negative feedback. That is how I got my one negative  The jerk didn't have enough time to respond to my emails but had enough to leave me a negative feedback.

Good point! Are they in any of the hurricane areas?

Have you tried contacting them through Ebay's information? You can call the bidder if need be. At least, that is what I remember.
I have 2 negatives on my feedback due to isp issues. The people left at the most 3 days, then filed the negative feedback.

Yikes! They could be! It says "High Point, NC" in the end of auction email. Maybe I should wait a little longer. I'm not up all all the weather stuff - has it been going on in the NC area since the 25th? Or is it mostly FL area?

Hmmm, I thought it was all concentrated in the FL area.
Chances are you had a flake bidder. I had someone bid on something, oh so excited to get it, then nothing. I sent a couple emails, figured it was dead. Then I got a check in the mail with a scribbled out note from the bidder's dh. Oops, sorry, she went on vacation and forgot about this. LOL. I'm a flake too and still had the item (3 weeks later) so it all worked out in the end.
I just don't know what I'd do in similar circumstances. I mean you are out your listing fee, or can you re-list for free?
It bites, that's FER sure.

High Point is not in the path of the hurricane.
It seems ebay has changed the way it does the non paying bidder alert. You can see how it works here
http://pages.ebay.com/help/announcement/upi.html#question5
and here is a link to the process

If your buyer doesn't respond through this method, I would leave negative feedback. It might save someone the headache you are dealing with now. Even for $1.35.

I'm dealing with one too. However, mine responds to my emails but payment just is not arriving. (she has had excuese after excuese)
I'm trying to figure out what to do with the situation too. I don't want to get negative feedback from her in retailiation if I leave it for her. I don't want to relist...just hope the payment arrives this week.
