I start babysitting a baby girl on monday who is b/f the mama brought me a large amount of frozen b/m but i need help. How long can b/m sit out at room temp?(as in she only drank a little and i know not to waist the liquid gold)How do i thaw the frozen b/m and any other suggestions you might have for me.She is used to the bottle i think mom pumps a lot and then bottle feeds but she also nurses.
Thanks :)

I've watched many bf babies :)
The LLL link is fabulous so I'll just add some things that have made my life easier.
-heating up bottles or thawing milk: I find the easiest way is to heat the kettle then put the bottle or frozen bag of milk in a mug poor hot water on it. For around 4 oz of milk this heats it to body temp. for the frozen milk sometimes it needs a bit more hot water to warm up enough. Heating the bottle in a mug means I can carry it with me from the kitchen to where ever the kids are playing well waiting for it to heat obviously I put it up high away from the kids. Then I don't have to leave the kids twice so less crying.
-schedules or at the very least routines are your friend. I think when kids are hungry they should eat but if you pay attention you'll get an idea of the baby's normal routine and then you can be proactive and get the bottle started before he/she is hungry. For me the hardest part of bottles is the baby screaming well I'm rushing to get the bottle ready most days I can avoid that which makes life much calmer.
Good luck if you have any other questions of specific problems feel free to ask :)

Bottle can sit for 6 hours at room temp and still be good to eat. I personally think that spoiled breastmilk stinks like anything else that spoils, so smell it before you use it.
I would also put a bag or two of the frozen milk in your fridge each night to thaw overnight. I have also thawed and heated milk in the storage bag by putting it in a coffee mug and pouring boiling water (from my tea kettle) over it.
Good luck!
