Do you feel it is worth it? Dh likes to take one family vacation in real hotels (not Motel 6 or camping - how I was raised, lol!) once per year. We are thinking that maybe a vacation club or time share would be nice? Tell me about yours, please.

my parents have owned timeshare since i was in middle school (so like 20 years :o ) we love it! the company they are with uses a point system now and so instead of "owning" a week or two at a certain place, they own points and can use them anywhere they want. best part is they give my sister and i enough points to take our families on a week vacation of our own. plus we can go on any of their trips if possible. and it is something they can pass to us when the time comes......

My inlaws have a timeshare in Vegas, and they have had it about 9 years, I think. They have swapped it out to go all over the place. We've stayed in Vegas, and it was really nice. Theirs is through Interval International.
(I have heard that you can buy timeshares from individuals as resale much cheaper than "new" timeshares from the companies. But you would need to know *exactly* what you are buying to make sure you don't get a dud.)

Well I've had a timeshare since 1994 and it is great. The resorts are always first class and come equiped with everything you need. Just bring yourself and food if you want to take advantage of the fully equiped kitchen. The one we stayed at this past April had 2 bedrooms plus a sofa bed and 2 bathrooms and even a washer and dryer and laundry detergent. WOW! They have many amenities to choose from and you can eiher spend your entire week never leaving the resort or use the resort as a homebase to sightsee the surrounding area.
I bought mine at a 5 star resort which is very important if you want to deposit your week for an exchange. We have never stayed at the resort I "own" and have traded it for others. You can stay literally anywhere in the world which is pretty awesome. The more hotel prices go up, the better a deal timeshares become. We have also "given away" our week to family and friends to use.
However, we're going to have to sell ours fast because we desperately need the money to pay for ours pending adoptions. So anyone who's looking for a great deal, LMK:-)
