Do you let your dog(s) lick the plates?

I voted no but not because it is sick, though!

I voted no but only because I don't give him "people food" except for occasional meat, fruit or veggies and then only in his dish separate from our mealtimes.

I didn't vote, but no, I don't let him lick the plates, but he graciously "cleaned" the highchair tray for me 3 times a day for about a year (when we stopped using it). :D

Ew. I can't stand dog spit on plates. Besides, our dog has dominance issues and I'm not about to let her eat off of one of our plates.

But it isn't a wise thing to feed a dog from your plate, either while you're eating or right when you're done. It is a pack mentality thing...in a pack, the alpha dog eats first uninterrupted. Only animals who are on the same level as the alpha (read NONE, or perhaps only their mate or offspring) eat with them.

If you have a dog with dominance issues, this is not the best thing to do - cause it indicates that you're not the one in charge.

We don't want our dog to beg, so he isn't suppose to be given people food. Well, I actually cook for him so he does get people food, just not what we are eating or from our dishes, only in his own!

Nope. And I don't want my family going all out and licking the plates either. ;)
