do I try to find its owner before I look for a new home for it? this is a little grey persian, declawed on all four paws. It moved into our barn about 2 weeks ago. I called the local vets, I am going to take it to my vet to see if it has a microchip, and I am going to put up signs. I can't keep it, even though it is a really sweet cat and young, maybe a year old, I have one cat and am alergic to them. One is all I can handle, I was sneezing like crazy after brushing it yesterday.

So what do you think, how long do I look for the owner?

You posted this on the 16th, so I would say if you still have the kitty, it is safe to look for a new owner. Just make sure it is an indoor home because of the declawed issue. If you still have the kitty and can't keep it any longer, would your vet take it until it finds a home? I bet you have a rescue in your area that could find it a home pronto (a declawed persian would go fast).
