Get Avon Skin So Soft bath oil and mix it in a spray bottle with wtaer. Mix it the following way: 3/4 full with water, 1/4 full with oil. Shake well and spray on aniimal's fur and comb down into coat. Do not douse the animal, just spray enough to get it into the fur. If you use too much, the fur will feel greasy.

Mine lasted for about a month on my dog. No fleas would go on him once he was treated. You know how they say Skin So Soft repels mosquitoes? I've found it repels fleas too.

Brewer's yeast. We are doing this for our puppy and nothing. I am even getting ticks but not him. I guess I need to take more.

We rescued a mama cat once and her and the babies were eaten up with fleas. Soon our house was too. Someone told me to sprinkle borax all over our carpets and leave it down for five days, then vacuumand burn the bag. I swear it worked!! I keep borax in all pet bedding now and we have never had another problem with them :)

If the cat has bad fleas now, there is a little tablet the vet can give them, and all the fleas just die and fall out in about 10 minutes. I cant remember the name, but a vet would know. My Mom bought these for about $3.00 a pill and didnt have to bring in her pet to get them.

Hope that helps!!

For the flea's Got your self some BOX's of moth balls. Poke hole threw the box's (Don't open them) and toss the box's under and behind your furnature, and place the kids can't/won't get them. As for the cat, I heard you can wash them with Ivory bar soap, but I don't know if it works. Vacuum as much as you can I did morning afternoon and night. Oh and EVERY time you vacuum the rug take the bag and seal it in a big zip lock bag and put it to the curb. Same thing if you have a bag less, dump it in a zip lock bag seal it up and pitch it. They can escape a vacuum (or Bag) if you leave it. We tried the borax too but that diden't work well for us.

What about tea tree oil? Would it work?

Brewer's yeast.

Absolutely and the cats I have catsat loved it on their food. Tea tree oil is something I use for fleas/ticks. I put it in their rinse water. I also like Petguard shampoo (unsure on your kitten's age and if it is appropriate for her) because it has pennyroyal oil in it which also helps deter fleas. There is also Halo brand Cloud nine herbal flea dip. I've never used it but all their other products I've tried have been amazing!

When and animal gets fleas, it means it is dirty (not necessarily unwashed which can be part of it but malnourished). Most kittens and puppies are. To really take care of the problem long term, I totally recommend a high quality cat food (like Wellness, Innova which is high in fat though, Wysong, petguard, solid gold, etc.) What you pay for is what you get to a point with high quality foods. Maybe a pet supplement too. Flea season will end soon, so just try to get through this season and with a high quality food and using a natural flea deterrent shampoo (or adding tea tree oil to bath time), next year shouldn't be as bad.

A word on Advantage, I strongly do not recommend either that product or Frontline. My direct experience with it was with my pom mix. When I brought him home from the shelter, I noticed that where they gave him an application (and it is unsafe for pups and kittens to, btw), his skin died and turned black.

As far as your house, if you have kept the kitten in the house at all or plan to, just vaccum all carpet areas and rugs (something we all do anyways and when Kipper had his flea problem when we first brought him home even after a chemical flea treatment, I figured a couple extra times won't hurt.)

Last flea season, we were in the same boat with our little guy, but not a flea this season (or tick). Diet is a big key.
