I just wanted to introduce myself before I jump in here. I'm Brandy, homeschooling mama to threee little ones. I've been reading a bunch of the older threads this evening, and you are all so inspiring. I am so desperate to simplify and get out of debt! We finally have some long term goals laid out and though it will be a long road, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel if we continue in the right direction and don't get sidetracked. We've been horrible with our credit cards and I am hoping that our goals will help keep us focused and make us think before spending.
My DH is in the police academy right now (5 weeks down, 16 more to go) and currently living with another cadet near the academy. It's been hard having him away, but fortunately there is an end in sight and the first month has gone by pretty quickly. Our longterm goal is to move to the Pacific Northwest once he has enough time in to transfer laterally to another department. We're hoping to have all of our debt paid off before then and hopefully have some $$ saved for a down-payment on a house.
I have taken a babysitting job six days a month, which is giving me an extra $300 dollars to put toward bills :)
Looking forward to gleaning more info on simplifying and thriftiness from you mama's!
