Finn will be under general anesthesia for several hours in a couple of weeks. They told me to give him nothing for 6 hours before, but isn't there a rule about breastmilk?

Yep... I know it's surgery related, but it's because of the sedation, so it should apply...

surgery and he wasn't allowed to eat beforehand but afterwards to could breastfeed to his heart's content! I was told if he was formula fed that you would have to reintroduce it watered down but breastmilk is perfect and there are no restrictions and it's good to get those antibidies into him asap through breastfeeding.
Best wishes for your son and for you; it was harder on me than for my son!
Warmly,

Breastmilk is supposed to be considered the same as water, which patients can usually have up to 4 hours prior. I guess it depends on the age of your child and how much he needs it. My son had to have dental surgery and I nursed him right before leaving the house, probably 1 1/2-2 hours before the surgery and he was ok, I just didn't tell the dr. I did the same when he had hernia surgery. If you look on the LLL website they should have something about it.
