I received a gift certificate to a nicer women's clothing store as a gift from my co-workers. I'm not sure what to get with it and thought some more fashion conscious mamas here might be able to help me out. I'm sure I have some holes in my wardrobe that I could use this to help fill. I know I could use a suit (I work in an office three days a week) but I don't think the certificate would cover that. I have tons of casual shirts, T-shirts, jeans, etc. so I think I should get something a little more dressy for work. Can you help me out and tell me what are your wardrobe "must haves?" TIA!

I haven't worked in an office for quite a few years But I'll offer you my thoughts;) I always bought a bunch of basic pieces that could be interchanged then added accessories. So, I would spend your gift card on a very nice skirt and/or a pair of dressy pants. Then, I'd buy two shirts that could go with it. I would use accessories to change the look. A big bold necklace or a belt work well.

Buy a real formal jacket as in a suit looking jacket then pair it up with skirts or pants you already have in your closet. If you buy a well-tailored, high end jacket it will last you a long time. I'd buy a dark color like black or navy then use your top or accessories to lighten it up.

Honestly, I have a fashion degree although you'd never know it these days:joker:
