I bought a bunch of Patons yarn on clearance for $2 a skein- it's purple with flecks of light pink and light blue in it. I messed up on the gauge though so it might end up for me if it's too big for dd, which I wouldn't be too upset about, :) !

The wording is a little tricky in parts of the pattern, but once you figure it out, it's super easy to do.

That is really cute, I really need another sweater pattern, I have pretty much made an Easy Peasy sweater (from LTK) for just about everyone I know LOL

Yes, it does have patterns for all three. The patterns are based on whatever gauge you come up with in your swatch...basically- so there are patterns for 3.5 , 4, 4.5, and 5 per inch in sizes 1T through a teen size 12 or 14. You start out the same for all of the sweaters and then you choose what style you want and the patterns change.

I also bought a book from PW with top down patterns in sizes birth to adult, but I haven't made any from it yet.

No, it doesn't, but someone in here has done a hooded sweater from another pattern and I think it is top down- I forget her user name but it's the green stripped sweater post and it should be one of the first posts in here.

Hey, is it really easier to "adjust" sizing on top-down sweaters?

Like if you're making a sweater for your child, and she has a growth spurt when you're 3/4 done, and the darn thing won't fit for more than 15 minutes unless you give it a bit more length?

It's happened to me. One of these days I'm going to be giving some cute handmade sweaters to some other little girls...

It is really easy to adjust the length of the sweater and the arms because you can have the person it is for try it on while you are working on it and figure out how long it needs to be. Gauge is really important though to get the sleeve seem to come out right.
