Thanks for posting :)
I might not be coming to this forum anymore after reading it though, since Elizabeth Bennet of St. Louis really struck a chord with her comment...
"... . . . I believe that our country needs to have certain shared experiences so that we can debate public policy issues and communicate with each other."
I'm suddenly feeling compelled to send my kids to school so they can debate public policy and communicate
Overall a good article. It just bugs me that they always have to throw in a comment like that from someone who has obviously spent very little time with homeschoolers.

When the opposition says completely irrelevant ding-dong stuff like that, I imagine that they are only helping the cause of homeschooling.
Clearly I need to stop hiding the children from the rest of humanity up here in my one room cabin in the mountains and speaking to them in tongues so they, too, can share common experiences. Oh, wait, we don't do that! Doh! Yeah, she was obviously speaking from her weird stereotype, not experience.
The nice part was that the writer had ASKED in a previous article for input from homeschooling families, and was putting the word out about the reality he learned through the feedback, not the stereotypes. Snaps to him.....
Not read the article yet, but wanted to chime in on the idiocy of people. FIL's girlfriend told us we need to let DS watch superhero stuff and other similar tv so that he'll be able to relate to other kindergarteners. My poor, culturally illiterate almost 4 year old

Thanks for sharing that, I really enjoyed it!
I did  at the woman who's step-daughter (I think?) couldn't do basic math. As if that were the norm? Of course there are exceptions to the norm, just like there are public school kids who graduate and don't know how to read. It doesn't mean that most can't read, only that there are sad, extreme cases that slip through the cracks.
