I just put a new Fuzzi Bunz on my toddler, he pooped in it and I washed it within a hour. I just took it out of the washer to hang it out to dry. It looks clean but smells awful.

This is not a first for me. It just seems like fleece retains odor badly. I have had the same trouble w/ honeyboy style diapers, fleece liners and Fuzzi bunz, so I'm sure it is the fleece. Has anybody else noticed this?

What works to get that odor out?

I had the same problem with mine even after washing 4 times. So, I put a half cup of pine sol in with the wash and the odors came right out and didn't leave a pine sol scent. I also rinsed them three times just to make sure there wasn't any residue left to get on baby's skin.

Same problem, no mattern what I try - even bleach. :shake: I stay away from anything with a fleece inner. Fleece outers/shells don't seem to be as bad, but if dried on really hot temps, or for too long, can get icky.

There is this stuff that hunters use to take scent out of clothing (I can't remember what it is called) and I have had to use that on some of my diapers.

The detergent is called SportsWash, you can get it at Walmart.

I have also had success with using no detergent, and a vinegar rinse, then hanging to dry.

I have never used a fleece inner, but that's all I've needed to do with my pull-on covers in the past six years. But I can totally see how a fleece inner, if pooped on, would/could retain smell.

Yup, fleece retains odors...but if you wash it normally-then hang it in the sun, then the sun will get all of the odor out-I promise.

Also-they say not to leave the fleece in with poopy dipes for more than 24 hours...

That's depressing LOL since I just bought 6 brand new Fuzzi bunz for my toddler to help with rashes etc...

What do the other Fuzzi bunz users do? Do they just live with the smell?

When I hung them in the sun-I never had the smell reactivate with pee...urine. I only had that problem with hemp dipes.

An idea-is to store them dirty in a separate wet bag...separate from the dipes that you stuff them with(so they are not sitting in lots of dirty diaper smell). And wash them with any load of laundry that they could go in. I imagine you do at least one load a day with your full house-lol! They get clean so easily-I wouldn't mind at all putting them with regular laundry-and using vinegar in the rinse. If you are doing a load of dipes a day-just wash them with those dipes. (I didn't do dipes every day)

Make sense? Worth a try : )

I live with it mostly (we only use fb).
I find that the microterry inserts actually hold more smells than the fleece. In fact, my microterry holds more smells than my hemp. I still like it better. In general, I think my dd's pee just really stinks too. When it gets on her jammies (the rare occasion), it stinks her whole cotton jammy up. So, I can't blame the diapers on that. Anyway, one of my customers swears up and down (she been through 4 different detergents) that the Quixtar detergent, SA8, and oxyclean-like-thing get all the smells out. She's the type that smells each and every diaper as it comes out of the dryer and rewashes until they smell clean. I don't really worry about it, but I'm eager to try her detergent setup when she sends me a sample. None of that probably helped, but hey, we're in the same boat. We never had this problem till dd reached toddler age.
