Anyone read her books?

This week I read Rose Daughter and The Hero and the Crown and am re-reading The Blue Sword right now. Got any faves of hers?

I love her!! My favorites are

Beauty: A retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beas

Spindle's End: a retelling of Sleeping Beauty

I have read Beauty so many times. It is such a good story.

I'll have to look for Spindle's End. :)

Have you read Rose Daughter? It is ALSO Beauty and the Beast. She says she thought she'd said all she had to say in Beauty, but then when a friend asked her to do a short pic book version for him (or a friend?) to illustrate, Rose Daughter came out. :) It's great! :)

Yes I have read Rose Daughter. I think I read half of it in the store before I bought it, LOL. It's wonderful and has so much more deep meaning and symbolism. Beauty is much more simple. I love both of them. She is a great author isn't she. I have read all the ones you listed.

How weird is this? WHen I said I had to look for Spindle's End it turned out I already HAD it!! I had just bought it at a used book store based purely on the fact that it was by McKinley - diidn't even read the back, LOL! It was great! Blue Sword is still my fave though. I haven't seen Deerskin yet. Her next I'll work on is The Outlaws of Sherwood Forest or something like that. But I got sucked into my Dune series and need to finish those first. :p

LOL. I just finished Deerskin. It's interesting and I need to read it over again because I am sure I missed a few points. But it was pretty good. Lots of descriptions and symbolism. I just started reading Spindles End again. I haven't read the Outlaws of Sherwood Forest, need to do that. Have you been to her website?
