Sorry but weight has not a lot to do with how much the baby will need. How long will you be seperated?

can't you just pump what you can? lol ~ how would you figure out by her weight what she *needs* yk?
or, do you mean weigh her before your nurse her...then after, to see how many ozs she takes?
not sure if that is what you meant or not ~

a "general" guideline is 2.5 ounces per pound, per 24 hours. So, if she's 10lbs, she would need about 25 ounces in a 24 hour period or 2.5 ounces per feed if she nurses 10x a day,
This is just a "best guess" and I would be sure to leave a few extra ounces just in case.

i thought there was a way to calculate how many ounces a day a baby needs or i may just be crazy. My class is tomorrow and it's for a few hours but dh will bring her on my lunch break so i can nurse her.

My 13 lb 4 month old prefers to nurse over bottle. But I do work 1 day a week & she never goes through more than 3 3-4 oz bottles in an 8 hr day. I leave freezer stash just in case though.
