I'm trying to come up with a name for a business I *MIGHT* be starting... and I thought of one PERFECT for me.. but I want to find out if it's trademarked or anything.. I'm not going to go GLOBAL or anything.. just local and online to my mama friends.. you know. :)
Is there someplace I can do an easy search? I googled it.. but all I came up with were thousands of pages of college essays.
Thanks!

If it's for an internet biz you could do a search at godaddy to see if the name is already taken...

If it's for a local biz check to see if your county clerk's office has a website. Ours has a "business name search" option on it. :)

well I looked for the ineternet name already.. what I want to know is if the actual WORD/NAME is trademarked.. kind of like "disney" is tm'd you know? It's something from a book that I read.. so I just want to make sure I don't have to pay any royalties down the road yk? ;) *lol*

You can try the patent office
http://www.uspto.gov/ Not everyone trademarks, but if they have it's there and is at least somewhere to start.

You can have a search run at the USPTO, or, you can email me the name. My DH is a patent attorney. He knows how to do all the cool stuff, and can usually get a pretty good answer in just a few minutes, once he goes to work that is.
PM me if you want. I promise not to take your name or spill the beans.
Oh, and I am sure my dh will also recommend that you do a full search just to be sure.
