We had the same troubles when we went to sign the kids up for our local charter school. They put ds in the system as a 1st grader (which he isn't, and the paperwork I filled out shows that), then when asked to put him as a 2nd grader (a quick computer change) they took 3 weeks, and still didn't have it changed. Then they sent me an acceptance letter for my dd's with nothing else, and when I dropped it off, they said I was supposed to have other papers too (they were supposed to be in the envelope they mailed, and they weren't). So I drop off those necessary papers, and then I get mail a week or so later saying they need those same papers (that they already recieved) ACK! Absolutely frustrating. I figured it was a sign for us too, and we'll be continuing our homeschooling this year instead.

I emailed them awhile back (maybe 7 mos ago) with a two paragraph note -- maybe 5 questions in all that I had that were not addressed on their site. I just wanted some clarification on teachers being in touch with us, medical forms, phys ed stuff, etc.
A WEEK later I got a two line email in return stating that my questions were far too compex for email (WTH?!) and I should call to speak with someone. I tried maybe three times and gave up.
Not exactly thrilled with 'em either.

Around enrollment times there are some bugs that they ty to work out. K12 and PAVCS are two separate things... so Nicole, you might want to call Robert Richard at PAVCS. I always had good luck with him. He has always called me back within the day or two - and always handled my questions. We had some enrollment issues that were just little bumps.
Emilytoys - if you have any questions, lmk. We were enrolled for a year and a half and had a good experience. We were in contact with our teacher AT LEAST b weekly. She talked to the kids, kept me up to date on what was going on with the school, the kids read to her, etc. If I had any other questions, we emailed back and forth - usually within minutes I had answers. As far as phys ed, they have like 13 'lessons' that count for that. We also did Tae Kwon Do, so that is where Austin and Nate got the majority of their phys ed hours. Other things that would count would be organized sports (through the Y), a homeschool gym class, anything that is structured and supervised. Example: a bike ride with Dad would count... but a bike ride alone wouldn't. As far as medical forms... they didn't have us fill out Nathan's medical forms until the second half of this year. I think they were trying to streamline the paperwork and not have so much at the beginning of the year.
Good luck, you two. The curriculum is top notch and the teachers I have talked to have been wonderful. Also, there are usually get togethers for others in your area, so you can meet up with other PAVCS-ers and meet your teachers in person. The area we are from even had a music class co-op.

I had a similar problem with CAVA (CA's virtual academy, also using K12). The guy I ended up speaking with was K12's rep for CAVA--and two months after I'd done preliminary apps online, submitted placement test scores and mailed in the 14 page long applications and all medical forms for *both* my kids, they said they hadn't received the apps--fill out new ones. I took it as a sign and found another charter (but I was kind of on the fence about K12 anyway, so it was an easy decision!).

i was sure the guy i spoke w/ thought i was nuts...LOL. but he at least finally found the testing scores for ds that i had entered online *whew* and he said that since i kept getting info from them, there was obviously previous contact made. well, yea...duh!
long story short, i did have to re-fill out the app. & drop of new forms w/ the ped & dentist to re-fill out
still have no idea HOW they lost us, but they did.

Good luck!
We love the curriculum. Just remember that you DO NOT need to do EVERY activity suggested... just whatever your child needs to meet the objectives. They offer a bunch of different activities to meet different learning styles... so do what you need and the things your child likes. Otherwise, you will get burned out! FAST!
