Dd will be 3 right before christmas and i'm trying to think about what i want to get for her. She doesn't seem to play w/ much. She does play w/ her dolls but she pretty much ignores the dollhouse that we got her last year. I'm almost tempted to get rid of it (LOL) She doesn't like blocks, will play w/ some of her brothers cars, but really just doesn't seem to play w/ anything. I'm wondering if i don't have stuff that she likes or what? (LOL) I was thinking maybe of a tea set as a gift. Oh, we do have a kitchen but she doesn't play with it too often.
thanks

Let's see... Emmaline will be 3 next month and right now, she loves coloring, her puzzles, writing her name, painting, playsilks that make her "invibible" :p any type of balls, and having conversations with/feeding/parenting her dolls. We have a play kitchen that Renee/Lydiasmom gave us, and she loves that too.

She would much rather be outside playing with the sand and water table, in the sandbox, on the swings, in the pool, etc. She loves looking at bugs too.

She is really into her books right now too, so books are always a great gift around here. She seems to like ones with realistic pictures more than cartoonish ones right now.

Back packs!! My 2 1/2 year old loves back packs. She will fill them up with books, doll house accessories, playsilks, snacks, whatever she can find. She loves bags too.

She loves her baby dolls.
Chalk board
Musical instruments (triangles, jingle sticks, music wands, bongos, whisltes)
Books

Those are the things she plays with just about everyday. Hope that helps!

dd is now 32 months old and she plays with these regularly

puppets
chalkboard
daddy's eraserboard(definitely supervised like a hawk)
lauri puzzles
learning pockets type of books or stories
putting together train tracks
connect 4(she calls them checkers)
cutting wooden food
lacing cards
dress up hats
the game called Perfection(kind of a more complex shape sorter right now than the actual race against time concept)

Silks, dinosaurs, playing kitchen, balls, playstands for various things, sandbox, bugs, trampoline, eraser board, garden hose (lol), painting, blocks, legos, wooden cars, sidewalk chalk. We recently bought her the CD & book "Philadelphia Chickens" by Sandra Boynton and it's a huge hit. :)

Little girls can be *so* different.

My Katie (2y 4m) plays with dolls, dolls, and more dolls! She loves them. She even puts cloth diapers on them, breastfeeds them and tries to put her own clothes on them. She brings me her clothes and asks that I put them on her dolls. Its hysterically funny!

She likes to pack her backpack and her baby doll diaper bag with well...whatever she wants - doll clothing, toys, books, dolls, etc. Yes, she even puts the "baby" in the diaper bag and insists that I zip it up.

Katie loves books and looks at them many times during the day. She sometimes plays with the wooden dollhouse that we bought about 1.5 years ago - she doesn't play with it often, though. I think she is a bit young for it so I am going to hang onto it for a few more years.

She also loves to play in the sand box outside. Oh, and her ironing board and iron along with her miniature wooden clothes drying rack. She irons every time I iron and likes to hang laundry when I do.

I suggest you get her a backpack if she doesn't already have one - or a special bag of some sort.

HTH.

Kristin :)
P.S. My oldest DD almost *never* played with "babies". She just didn't care for dolls like Katie does.

Well I have a 2y3m old girl and an almost 5 year old girl. They both are very girly and princessy so it might not work for you. The youngest loves to play with her kitchen, dress up clothing and playsilks, dressing her dolls. Another backpack lover here. She puts books, dolls, you name it in there.

My Kaylen turns 3 right before Christmas, too :)

Her very favorite thing is dress-up clothes, especially her silks and hats. Lots of hats and bags.

She loves books and art supplies, especially painting and her Magnadoodle.

She doesn't play with her actual kitchen much, but loves to play at her table with her wooden dishes and food.

Musical intruments, children's flashlight, "playdough", soccer ball and goal.

...wanted to add not to throw out the dollhouse. She'll play with it next year. Ours is in my 4 yr old ds's room ... he plays with it often.

Also, Kaylen loves to have her own space. She has me cover her easel with silks so she can go inside. I'd love to get her a teepee.

Camryn is 2.5 and will be 3 the day after X'mas....right now the things she loves are -

her doll (which is a 3 mth old size  )

She loves having a "tea party" - laying out placemats / plates / cups / cake (= lego blocks),

Scribbling with crayons or pen on blank paper (thankfully she is over scribbling on walls, books etc)

reading - she loves to sit and look at books - she spends a lot of time at our bookshelf pulling out her books and going through them - she doesn't have a lot of patience for us reading to her though

She also loves putting her playsilks around her or covering her doll with it....

My dd just turned 2.5 and she loves to play with her dollhouse, her other dolls, her tea set, and she loves to draw and color. Basically, she likes to do the things she sees me do. Oh! I got her a big crochet hook and some yarn and she pretends to crochet too. :) Hope that helps.

and she plays with - crayons, markers, bubbles, whistles. Dolly in various states of undress in play stroller. Balls of all shapes and sizes, wooden fruit/vegetable cut-up set puzzles (the thick wood jigsaw with like 4-5 pieces) felt books and picture books.
She loves to play in water, and sand also.

a neato kind of idea is to hit the thrift stores and buy fancy/strange clothing for a dress up box. Hats, shoes, purses, whatever so she can pretend.

Olivia and Brianna are the exact same age (If I recall they were born on the same day.)

Olivia lov Polly Pocket stuff - now I don't have it in my house but my mom has it at her house. My mom has got a whole room full of it. We have mostly natural and wooden stuff at our house.

Anyway, here she plays with the barn and horses, any little stuffed animal, drums, spalulas, and her older sisters. She's not into crafty stuff like coloring or writing. She likes babies and mama things- animals and people.
