Does anyone ever wash at night, and then find your clothes kinda, well, smelly in the am? I never had this with my top loader, maybe cause it did not "seal" the moisture in? I don't know, but man, I am tired of stinky clothes!!!!!!

Anyone else notice this???

no,i've never had stinky clothes in mine.

LMBO....go figure, it's always some problem solely affecting me. Ugh.....lol. I swear, I never had this with a top laoder, unless we left the clothes in for like days! But overnight?! Arghh....Maybe it's the weather here.....hmmm. (Now watch another Oregon Mama tell me no, sorry, it's not the weather, our washer just creates stink....:rolleyes:)

I have the same problem. With towels some times it will smell in a couple of hours. I thought it was our hard water. I live just one state up in WA so maybe it's just west coast mamas lol.

Run a few towels or something like that through with LOTS of vinegar in the rinse. I get this sometimes. Also, leave the door open when there are no clothes in there so it can dry out some. I can't do this much as mine runs almost constantly.

Kenmore too! (o: I had one that kept crapping out, within a few months...so we upgraded to the largest Kenmore one, and we like it....except for this! Hmmm, hard water...yes, I think we have that too. I wonder if a water softener will help?

we do alot of towels at night but never had them stink,oh but i do use liquid fabric softener?

It doesn't matter what I wash if I leave it over night it smells. Yuck. I think I will try the vinegar, that sounds like a good idea.

As far as the water softener goes, I think it would help. We had a "Free Demo" and Rainsoft sales people came out and showed us all the soap left in after the rinse ewww. I was ready to buy until she showed me the price. $3500.00. I about hit the floor. But since then I have checked on ebay and they are real cheap. There is one on there now that is only $450.00. I'm hoping to move where there is soft water.

yup. mines a kenmore front loader also and i just noticed it this morning. i think it just needs to be cleaned out where the black rubber is around the window. you could avoid that problem all together and just utilize the delay wash for 6 hours when you go to bed. i've never seen the point in that option but maybe if you can't get the smell to go away when washing overnights then i guess it'd make sense. LOL

I havent had a problem, and i do laundry at night a lot of the time. But when there isnt a load in the washer I do leave it open and usually unplug it (just because the light is on when the door is open).

You have to leave the door open in between loads...when you are not washing. The seal on the front loaders has to be super tight-or the water would leak. Hard water doesn't help either. So tight seal...means lots of water/humidity for things to grow.

To get on top of the 'problem'(mold or mildew) defintely do vinegar rinses...and you can add tea tree to the rinse. I like adding it to the rinse instead of the wash-since it will hang out in the left over wahing water-and in our clothes. (as opposed to being totally washed away in the wash cycle)

Also-adding baking soda to the wash will act as a water softener.

If you really want-you could do a load of whites with borax in it as well-that will help clean out your washer.

My girlfriend has the same problem...with her front loader. I have a front loader-and I do wash at night-and take it out in the morning-but I never close the door in between washing. I also always use a vinegar rinse(helps get the soap out), and sometimes add tea tree...

Ours is 18 months old (got it just before Joanna was born - it's the Whirpool Duet) and I've been noticing this problem recently. I already use vinegar in the rinse so what I finally did was run a load of bleach (with a bunch of rags from the boat) and even that didn't help! I pulled back the rubber gasket (ours is grey) and found some mildew in there so I took a rag with diluted bleach and wiped it all down then left it open overnight. It did the trick! I know many of you don't use bleach so maybe wash it down with borax or something but you need to get into the inside of the gasket where the clothes don't touch. Also, definately leave it open overnight to dry out.

I have that problem with my front loader...

But I used to have it with my portable top loader as well. In college I got the portable to do cloth diapers in and then would still have to take everything to the apt complex dryers. If I let my clothes sit over night in the washer OR piled in a laundry basket they would start to smell.

I use the delay feature now and don't notice a problem

Well not oever night but faster than my old top loader did. but I have always used vinegar.. I think I would use vinegar in and on everything if I could! LOL! :p

I just got a front loader (maytag neptune) a few months ago and lately I have noticed the same thing. When it is hot out I seem to have to put them in the dryer IMMEDIATELY or else they start to stink. It sucks I can't put a load in before I go to bed, I have to make sure averything is at least in the dryer first.

I use the delay feature now and don't notice a problem

DOH! Delay! Now why didn't I think of that.

We have a water softener, I don't think it's that. I think it's the heat. We had our old toploader in the basement and the new washer is upstairs in this backroom kinda but not really connected to the rest of the house- it gets real hot in there. I think it is heat and moisture. dangerous combination.
