The only way any rhythm is going to return to this house is if I dig out from under everything!!

2 months ago I started...decluttered the kids closet and toys and got rid of bags and bags of stuff. Then my momentum ran out...

Yesterday I went to work on another closet and was able to get rid of about 4 bags of stuff. The closet is a very small walk in but with the floor space cleared and the grungy clothes purged, I was able to move in a dresser and set the computer and a lamp up on it. That also serves the great purposes of getting this computer and all of the adjoining cables, printers and crap out of eyesight.

Today I'm continuing organizing the 'new closet' and working on my bedroom as well. The bedroom looks 10 times better just having the computer out of site!!!

If I declutter our dressers and the cabinets it will look pretty darn good.

There is still so much to go but this has to get done. I am tired of being buried in stuff. I get stressed, I get wrapped up in 'cleaning' the stuff.... no more.

I feel bad that the boys are going to have to do a lot of entertaining themselves this week and we will likely use a couple videos a day as well. But, I really think that things will be SO MUCH BETTER for all of us once it's done. I lined up a babysitter for 2 hours tomorrow and 2 hours on Thusday so that they can get out to the park and pool while I take back my home lol.

Now that I've announced it I'll stick with it lol

I have 4 kids and I homeschool 3 of them so I have no time to declutter. Even if I only do one dresser drawer a day I call that an accomplishment!

I've been trying it a little at a time and got so discouraged because I felt like it was 2 steps back for every step forward (new stuff is always coming into this house for birthdays/holidays and my kids can pull apart an organized cupboard in 10 seconds flat:rolleyes: )

I'm going to try three *power days* and then the one hour at night approach. I'm hoping that actually seeing myself making a difference in the begenning will be good motivation and actually put me a couple of steps ahead lol.

i hear ya, our house is in dire need of decluttering...i'm setting a few goals for myself this week - the hall closets!!! we've got 3 (yes, you read that right!) hall closets that are overflowing with junk...most of it is stuff we rarely use, baby stuff that will be used soon, or stuff we could care less about but had to move/put somewhere when we moved in february...sigh...off to start the declutter after i clean the kitchen from dinner!
