View Full Version : Garden pictures!
This first picture is of the front of our home. There is a little rock edged spot for my 3 containers of plants, plus 2 hanging off the railing.

This second picture is of our porch with Justin hanging out (lol) and of the 2 baskets of flowers. The front yard is full sun all day long and I'm having a hard time keeping the plants/flowers alive. I keep forgetting to water them daily. I keep taking the dead marigolds and scattering the seeds in the front yard planters in hopes of filling in the gaps in the containers.

This 3rd picture is a close up of the stone garden. I got the stones for free, on the side of the road (along with a small case of poison ivy! ). Inside that *stone fence* are 3 large containers filled with bulbs, seeds and flowers. :)

This 4th picture is of Justin sitting on the porch, and you can see behind him several pots of flowers, or what are SUPPOSED to be flowers (from bulbs and seeds). I may have to re-seed them all to get them to grow.

In this picture, to the left, is a garden bed with mammoth sunflowers, and many MANY different wildflowers underneath the canopy made by the sunflowers. To the right is our monster of a TV stand; it's covered by morning glories (Thanks, Kristin!). At the base of the tv stand are lots of wild flowers.

This picture shows the planters on the small back deck. NORMALLY the pool isn't ON the deck, but I put it out 2 days ago, then it rained and rained and rained so it's been there for a few days. Left to right along that wall of planters: Basil and parsley (just seeded the parsley a few days ago), some flowering bulbs and misc wildflowers, some bulbs that have yet to flower, some more wildflowers and bulbs that have yet to flower, and a newly seeded pot with 4 different herbs in it, a large container with mostly marigolds in it (behind Justin). In front of the pool in the corner are some jumping violets and many MANY wildflowers and a few vines in the front. Oh, and of course, Justin and Scottie!

This 7th picture shows you my hammock, not that I ever get to lay in it. To the left of the hammock you again see the container of mostly marigolds. On the ground behind that is a container of about 10 or more strawberry plants. They're really big, but have only produced a few berries for me so far. Further on behind that you see a hanging bird feeder and behind that is my *river bed* and a small garden with wildflowers, marigolds and morning glories. Behind THAT starts my veggie garden. 7 tomato plants with LOTS of fruit on them already, many green bean plants (Scottie keeps running them over so I've had to replant them 3 or 4 times already. Grr!)

This 8th picture is of the flower garden I planted to *cover up* the ugly telephone pole in the middle of our back yard. ALL wildflowers and many bulbs. I can't wait until they start to bloom. Some of the smaller ones towards the bottom already have! It's been a surprise to see what they look like since I've no idea each is called!

This 9th picture shows the rest of my garden. There are more green beans, cucumbers, peas, carrots, onions and parsley. On the right wall are several yellow squash, a giant pumpkin and several mini pumpkin plants. My lettuce was an absolute BUST....something ate them all before I got the chance to. LOL

I guess you'd call me a careless gardener....tossing flower seeds down wherever it suited me. In the past I've had more *organized* gardens and they didn't do very well. This year I just threw caution to the wind (and seeds to ground) and poof! SUPER SUCCESSFUL! :)
Hope you enjoyed my little picture show!

It looks great mama! I love the disorganized look...last year I did that and my beds looked fabulous. This year I thought I'd go with a 'plan' and it just looks like my 2 yo planted
Great job, isn't it rewarding to see what comes of it through the weeks? :)

Not much of a 'garden' but I planted a few things.
I have hanging baskets on either side of the front door with a Sweet Potato vine in them. Can only see the bottom of one basket in this pic. The plants are a pretty green and pink and look sort of like an ivy.
In the concrete planters that came with the house I planted some Petunias. I'm not a big fan of petunias but the front of the house gets full sun and not much else available to me was ok in full sun.
You can see part of one of the house plants I adopted in college. I have no idea what it is, but it's not dead. I tossed my chinese evergreens out on the front porch too, but it was too much sun for them. I nearly killed them (also a college rescue). They are now along side the house slowly looking better. I should bring them back in, but I wanted to try and reclaim the dining room table and they were in the way.
Along the front retaining wall I planted creeping phlox. Nicholas calls them his grape plants. He was super mad when I planted the stuff on the porch and was ripping up the flowers because he wanted grape plants there instead. So when I was planting the phlox he asked me if it was grape plants and I said yes just to avoid an argument and more ripped up plants.

Everything looks great, Stacy! I am glad you are getting everything to grow and your Morning Glories look better than mine do, that's for sure!
I have had many unsuccessful years in the past, but this year seems to be different and I am thankful for that.
The only pic I have to share is in my siggy. Katie is at the edge of my "square foot" garden.
Nice picture show, mama!
