Mamas, anyone know anything about roses? DH bought me a beautiful rosebush for our anniversary and I've had it here in the house for weeks...I'm sure as heck not planting it outside only to leave it behind if we have to move. I had to leave my white rosebush I'd nurtured for years at our old house because it was climbing 10' tall.
My new one has (I think) powdery mildew...some white stuff on about 1/2 the blossoms. Nothing on the leaves. I googled and read that I should cut the infected parts and dispose of them carefully in a plastic bag to prevent spreading it. Also heard I can spray it with sodium bicarbonate (soda ash, see, this is sewing/dyeing related, lol) to prevent it. Anyone done this? The site said it might help but also might burn the leaves...
Should I move the pot outside or keep it indoors? That's what I'm really not sure about...think the wind blowing on it will hurt? I've got a pretty green thumb but I'm hit or miss with roses...
