The doctor called today. It was 13 in August, and now it's down to 7. Thank you so much to everyone who replied to my post and PM'd me when it was high.

I must have missed that post, mama. I am so glad your babe is ok. Sorry I wasn't much of a support.

I am glad her lead level is down

Now I have a few questions for you because My Daughter had an elevated lead level and we are in the process of having a Health inspector come out and test our home

Do you know what caused the increase in lead in your child

Did you do things diffetrently once finding out about the increase? If so what did you do?

Did this cause any delays in your child? If so what were they

and before finding out through the blood test was there any indicators of their being a high level of lead in her system?

Sorry for all the questions but I was baffled to learn that my daughters levels were raised and Was even more so after finding out my home was recently tested for lead and everything that posed a possible risk was corrected. So now I am having an inspector come out and hopefully we can learn more and get things more under control

Do you know what caused the increase in lead in your child
Our house was built in 1941, so it has lead paint.

Did you do things diffetrently once finding out about the increase? If so what did you do?
We got busy painting over the old paint. We actually haven't finished yet, but we really focused on windowframes, doors and thresholds, which are more likely to have lead and where there is friction. We increased the amount of damp-dusting we did.
We followed our doctor's advice to make sure Louisa's diet is high in calcium and fiber and to give her yogurt to help get the lead out of her system. We followed the advice of some amity mamas and put kelp in her food.

Did this cause any delays in your child?
Thankfully, she does not have any delays. I had to remind myself of that sometimes to keep from worrying too much about it.

(((((Hugs))))))))
Sorry you are going through this, too. It feels awful to know there's something so bad in your baby's system and not be able to fix it. I hope you are able to find the cause and get it under control.

I am happy that your lead level has gone down. There are so many people who have no education on this issue at all! I am married to a health inspector who used to work for a city. He wrote a grant proposal for the XRF machine that they use to test for lead. it looks like a star Wars gun and they place it against a surface and it measures lead levels. Previous to meeting him I honestly had no clue about lead. In CT there are lead clinics where the children get tested but many states still have no legislation. The local health depatments have some neat little coloring books that are fun and informative for children and adults. They should be very happy to give out some so ask. Once again, I am sooo happy for you!
