Saige & Claire were nursing am, afternoon & bed-time. I cut out the afternoon time & they were okay with that. Just recently cut out the am one & they are okay with that too. No sign of them giving up on the bed-time one though. I do manage to get them to wait till the baby is done first. They will be 4 in June.

Teagan is 8 mos & still nursing strong. Most days he doesn't have anything but breastmilk....his decision.

My dd made it to her 3rd Birthday! Then she weaned 3 weeks later! She would have gone longer, but she was only nusing first thing in the a.m and it was becoming like coffee for her! She was so demanding if I didn't hop right to it! So I tried popping in "Finding Nemo" for her instead and she forgot all about me! It will be her 1 month anniversary on Monday! My ds is nursing and he is going to be 6 months. He is so different from her and he does not comfort nurse at all. No bottles or pacifiers ever(didn't give them to dd either). He just wants to eat and get it done with so he can get moving again! Dd nursed constantly. So funny how different 2 children can be! I wonder if he will wean alot earlier.....

Dd is a champ at 3 months. Ds nursed for 4 years 4 months and 7 days, but was down to only nursing at bedtime. We weaned because I was pg with dd, and at 18 weeks we found out she was complete previa, and I have a short cervix... If she hadn't been previa, ds might still be nursing!

My "now" nursling is almost 27 months old.....the other day I added it up, I've been nursing now for 10 years 21 months and 22 days. And put in 18 months of tandem nursing #1 and #2 (would have done it again after that, too, but #2 and #3 weaned at the birth of their baby sisters).

Which means also that for 10 years, 21 months and 22 days I've not had an entire nights' sleep--actually, longer than that because of getting up at night with a huge pregnant belly. sigh--no wonder I'm so tired all of the time.

However--lest anyone thinks I'm griping, I would never have traded these almost 11 year for anything.

WTG mama :) It is a big deal.. I know that when we hit a year this time I was thrilled.. We only made it 4 months the last time (w/#1)! I never thought I could have made it a year, much less almost four.

SUPER DUPER WOW!! Im so impressed w/all the mamas!!

Caden was born 2 to 3 weeks early w/an induction due to my PIH.

We really struggled w/nursing and there were days I wondered if we could make it. But I refused to see an alternative.
We made it through that dark tunnel. We are in the light now and it's amazing

TOtally worth the trials. Im so greatfull for our nursing relationship as I see the benefits far outweigh just the 'nutritional' needs.

K im babbling. This really makes me feel good cuz in the "real world" I feel like Im in the minority. :(

Almost 16 months and going strong...in fact he's going through a period of not eating much solid food at all. though there have been times in the past 9 months or so that i thought for sure he was on his way to weaning and i was soo sad. but now i know he has ups and downs and i just don't worry abut it. My big boy loves his Momma milk and since we are going to let that baby lead when it comes to weaning...well who knows....

i do know that i will be slightly dissapointed if he weans before 5 since for soem reason i have it in my head that that is how long he will nurse. lol

Amber, Caden is getting so big on that yummy milk! good for you both...you sound so happy and so secure. I hope you are doing as well as you seem and i'm glad you are finding a tribe that you like...AMity mama's are awsome!

Cyan weaned three weeks ago. She was three and one week. She self weaned and has asked and nursed since then, but it has totally lost its appeal for her and she will stop after about 5 to 10 sucks on each.

Now on to potty training. She is done, but still believes she should be peeing outside with Cooper (our dog). Now how to break her of THAT habit?

Glorious, terrible, strong willed children. :D (This is a over dramatic grin just in case you were wondering... ;) )

:waving: Hey Ashley!!

I just wanted to share something with y'all that made me tear up... we were in the grocery store the other day & there was a big old dairy case full of milk with a black & white cow picture on the side. Sean (my youngest, who at 4 yrs. 5 mos., is still nursing) pointed to the picture & said "Look, mama, there's the milk for the baby cows! I don't drink milk for baby cows because mama's milk is so much better!" Hmmm.... now why can't the general public get that point? ;)

I also wish that nursing older kiddos was more acceptable - my friends in the south of France don't think a thing about it... seems normal to them... Meanwhile, people here get all spastic about nursing babies in public but think nothing of having a woman walk into a restaurant with everything she's got hanging out of her top! Messed up thinking, I say!

So great to see all these happy nursing older "babies". I sometimes wonder if my "baby" will wean before his older twin sisters!! They will be 5 in June. Mind you "baby" Teagan shows no signs of weaning anytime soon. He will not let Saige & Claire nurse. If he sees them he runs over & tries to push them away. He will tolerate one nursing on one side while he is on the other...but won't allow them to both nurse while he waits.

So then Saige & Claire fight over who gets to nurse first with Teagan. Never thought my wee little breasts would be so fought over!!
