Would anyone be interested in a recipe swap?
I know how much I would like to have some different tried and true recipes to add to my collection (and how I never get the recipes I really like transfered out of the cookbooks and onto a card - have to go searching every time I want to find them).
I was thinking, if there is any interest, that we could do a swap of some of our favorite recipes. We could do like five recipes from different categories (maybe soup, entree, side dish, dessert, salad or bread or something like that), write them up on recipe or index cards and send them to each person participating. It shouldn't cost more than a stamp per person to send.
I think this could be kind of fun. :D
If you're interested or have other ideas post here and I can work out the details.
****************************
UPDATE:
Here's where we're at...I believe there are 6 of us in this. I am going to pm everyone for their addresses. I will put together a list then and pm that to everyone participating.
Each participant needs to write up one recipe (5 times) from each of the following categories: entree, side dish, soup, dessert, and one other of your choice like salad, bread, whatever. Please write them on a 3 1/2" x 5" card (recipe or index card) so they will fit in a recipe box.
Send the five recipes to each participant by June 8th. Please post here when you send them.
Any questions or something I forgot, pm me or post here.

I've noticed that and that is kind of what I was thinking. I guess I would like to get at least half a dozen people or so (that would be 25 recipes that we would each receive). I just think it would be fun to get other people's favorites.
It seems like it's easy to get in a rut with cooking and make the same things over and over and over....

An awesome Yahoo group you can join to get lots of recipes is Christian Vegan Cooking. There is at least one athesist there and although there is an occasional prayer request, posts are supposed to be about cooking only and the other stuff is to be discussed on their chat group.

you know i have joined several vegan mailing lists and ended up unsubbing. usually because they are more spam than recipes..but really ithink for the recipe forum for soem reason yahoo groups jsut don't do it for me. I do visit vegweb.com but i havet ohave an idea in what i am looking for there..so it doesn' help if i can't think of anything

I'm sure there's lots of places out there to get recipes. I just thought this would be kind of fun and they'd already be written up for you and everything. kwim?
All that being said...I have like 3 shelves full of cookbooks, but I still find myself making stuff I've made so many times I don't need a recipe anymore or just turning to the recipes I know are good and use over and over....

So I think I'll close this on May 31. I will contact everyone on June 1st to get addresses and then forward the addresses to the others participating and we can start writing up our recipes. Then we should have the recipes sent by June 8th. I think there are 4 people so far. Hopefully we can get a couple more, but evven at 4 we'll get 15 recipes each. How's that sound? :)

I would like to do this.....however, we will be gone from June 4th through June 13th taking a child to a specialist/hospital.
Can I still participate?
I am in a rut also. We don't eat red meat and are mostly vegetarian but we do eat fish probably about three times a month and the rare poultry. (once a month)
But, I'll make sure to mail only total vegetarian recipes. :) I don't have vegan recipes to share, however.
Just let me know if this is not a "fit" for me and I won't have any hard feelings, promise!!!! (since I don't have any vegan ones)

Michelle,
They do not have to be vegan, just vegetarian. Most vegetarian recipes are easy to adapt if need be. We'd love to have you join. You can either mail the recipes before you go, or you can just mail them when you get back. No problem! :)
Hope everything is okay with your dc.

Ok then, I'm in!!
Just LMK when it closes as to exactly how we will be doing this.
I will try to get mine mailed before we leave for the hospital, but if it is too crazy mine may not go out until after we get back. (but they will go out!)

You're not too late. It closes today and I will contact everyone later for addresses.
I saw in you siggy that you have a Tristan and an Aislinn - that is soooo weird because my brother's oldest is Tristan (10/97) and middle child is Aislinn (10/99), their youngest is Shaw (if you have a third and name him that I am going to think we're living in parallel universes or something :D ).

Not too much worry on that, hubby goes in for the big "V" in a couple of weeks, lol. That is strange though since they are fairly uncommon names. Must be some Irish blood :)
Thanks!

Becky,
Mine went in the mail today.
With the exception of the mama who you are waiting on her mailing address. Speaking of her, I won't get hers mailed until we get back from taking our daughter to the hospital which will be mid June. (That said,I will check my PM's this Friday one more time just in case you get her mailing address. If you have it and I have it in my PM's I can mail her recipes off Friday right before we hit the road)
Hope that made sense. :)
I had fun writing all these up but boy did it take a while!!! *lol* I think I need a printer!!!!
I'm so glad we are doing this. I'll post about all the recipes I get when we return from the hosptial in mid June. (PO will be holding our mail)
Hugs,
Michelle

Hey Mama,
I posted at this forum already, but I want to tell you I am running a day behind. I knew I have had a busy week with my small biz donations for Levi and I was busy making candles and stuff and jsut sat down to write recipes as I had time. And my dd helped to.
But they arent done, gotta take dd to music lessons and run around for dh today. I will probably not get them done until tonite.
I am so sorry!!
But you will love the recipes. I guarantee these are tried and true and some of our family faves.
AND I CANT WAIT TO TRY EVERYONE ELSES.
My meal menu will consist of many of your recipes the next week:thumbsup:

No problem, Kriterae! I had writers cramp after writing them all out...it reminded me of those long essay tests in college. I realize I don't write all that much any more - it's all typing.
Deadlines are always give or take a day, right? :)
Can't wait to get all the recipes. The ones I've gotten so far sound great!

Hi I need to apologize! I have a little boy who was just recently diagnosed with autism and a one year old daughter. I wasn't realizing I would have to write out 25 recipes, lol. I am going out of town tomorrow but I promise to get these finished up when I get back!

Oh, Julie {{{hugs}}}!
Sorry you are going through that. I'm sure we all understand.
If you wanted to just type up the recipes and pm or email them to me, I could write them up for you. Sounds like you have a lot to deal with right now. Really, I wouldn't mind.
LMK if I can help in any way.
~Becky
ETA - just doing them when you get back is fine too, but I would be happy to help. :)

My recipes did go out a couple days ago, except I think anikasmama. For some reason the postal carrier left one in there adn I think it was yours. But he did end up taking it today.
Thank you anikasmama for such a great idea. Now that the pressure is off getting htem written, I can enjoy meal planning. I like what I see so far!
cariadam-please dont worry about your deadline. We can use each others and then when we run out of new ideas, your will come along. Sounds good to me:)
Bless you and your chillren mama.

We just got back from our trip and how exciting to find all these recipes!
I am going to start working on them today. I noticed someone just glued on the printed recipe to the index card - great idea! If I do that I should be able to get these done fairly easily.
Thank you all for understanding, life has certainly been trying lately, but my son is doing well and we are already seeing some progress since starting therapies, so we are very hopeful.
thank you again!

Hi mamas,
Sorry to be reporting this late. As I mentioned, we were in Minnesota for medical for one of our children and I managed to come down with pnumonia (sic) while there and today is my first day out of bed in 10 days. :(
Good news is that all my recipes were mailed before the trip/illness and I hope you all got them and can read my writing!!!
As of today, I have received recipes from Kristerae and Becky.
Thank you!! I look forward to getting the rest and if we do this again, I got two new vegetarian cookbooks to share from!!
Hugs to you,
Michelle
