My 2 1/2 year old (who will be very lucky to make it to 3) found a permanent marker and colored on pillowcases, the comforter to our bed, some toys, books and the crib and other furniture. I was able to get it off the crib, furniture and books, and I've got the rest soaking overnight in the washer (after spraying it liberally with totally toddler spray).. any other ideas? How do I get it out??? I figured if I could keep it from drying, I'd have better luck, and being as how it's almost midnight, it's going to have to wait until tomorrow.

I told her she's SO lucky we don't believe in spanking.. she got in trouble for the same thing with a ballpoint marker yesterday, except that was limited to coloring herself and her clothes (any clue how to get that out too?)

Since she was supposed to be in the crib that's next to our bed (sidecar style), she's been told she's not allowed to sleep in our room for a week and is back in the nursery in her toddler bed (not as big of a deal as it sounds, she was in there for a year and only came back in with us when we moved the crib and were trying to get her and her brother in a sibling bed.. and he's decided he doesn't like it with her in there anyway).

Please Mamas... I know I can't be the only one this has happenned to!

I know goof off gets it off wood, and carpet... but you might want to test it on something that you don't care about first.

It sucks, dd did that to dh's work van, THANK GOD it was only the work van or I probably would have lost it.

Just wanted to say I am sorry!! I have been there and could not find a way to get it out.

Jodi do you think the goof would get it out of carpet if it has been there for awhile?

I know this sounds weird- but I have purchased breath spray (it is Quixtar breath spray) You just spray on liberally and dab off- it honestly works wonders. I can sell you some if you need it.

Or I would try Oxy Clean- like 5X the recomended amount for at least 2 days.

Possibly... but I would test it in a area where it's not noticeable first, because my BIL used some on something in his truck, and it 'bleached' out the upholestry.

I forgot to add, HAIRSPRAY! I have heard tons and tons of people say this works on marker.

WE have certainly been there a lot recently. My 2 1/2 yr old is constantly getting into things like this. I can't tell you how many walls have been colored on. I keep telling him 'only on paper, only on paper' he nods agreeably and then goes back to the wall.

Talk about aggravating! I'm sorry I don't have very good advice. Fingernail polish is supposed to work on fabric, the magic eraser worked up to a point on my walls.

Try hairspray....I know it will take the ballpoint pen off...don't know about the marker!

Is there some sections of wall somewhere you could sacrifice for her? Behind a door? In the laundry room? Somewhere she could do her "art"? Maybe find one of those easels at a garage sale wtih really big paper? Let her draw and draw and hang it up to show it off?

Just thinking out loud. My dd was "adventurous". :jump: :rolleyes: We tried to work with her as much as possible, because fighting against her was exhausting.

those mr. clean magic erasers are pretty amazing. i guess it depends on what you're removing something from, but i'd give it a try?!

Denise, this wasn't "art".. this was avoiding bedtime and doing anything possible to avoid falling asleep. She does art projects all the time, we have the huge roll of paper, etc. She even told me "markers are for paper Mama.. I don't know why I did them here". :rolleyes:
