I've got one fairly large bookshelf that has been "zachary's" and one small one for brianna. I've noticed that we can't even seem to find the books we want b/c his shelf is so crammed. I'm not sure we really have anywhere else to put a new shelf so i'm thinking of getting rid of the small one and putting another large one there. Someone told me they put little color stickers on the spine and different colors kind of are used like the decimal system. just wondering what others do.

On one shelf, I have early readers (level 1) all together, early readers (level 2) all together, and other early readers level 2 and up. This is the shelf the kids grab books off of for practicing their reading skills.

On another shelf, I have board books and early education (counting to 10, ABC's, first words) books for my youngest.

On another shelf, I put educational books that teach (like books about weather, the body, animals, bug book, dinosaur books, etc...

On a different shelf, I have storybooks that mommy can read to the kids (ones that are too hard for the kids to read themselves), and character (Strawberry Shortcake, Power Rangers, etc..) stories.

I am kind of a bibliophile. Our basement is divided into two rooms and one room is actually our "library." Bookshelves line every wall from floor to ceiling.

Childrens books are divided into types like little golden books, dr.seuss, story books for parents to read to children, easy readers, etc.

Then we have a young adult section and that is alphabetical by author.

Our adult books are organized by category (philosophy, history, parenting, humor, biographies, fiction, etc.)

Then we have another section for homeschool books and supplies which is also divided up by subject (math, history/geography, language arts, arts/crafts, etc.)

All our adult hobby/craft, gardening, field guide type books are upstairs in the main part of the house where they are easily accessible because these are ones that we use more often and reference.
