We noticed a few weeks ago that our homepage was changing itself. We'd change it back to what we wanted, but it wasnt keeping that info, and was just acting up. I think I even posted here about it and was recommended trying spybot and ad aware. Did both, didnt help.

Fast forward to Easter day, My email is not working correctly. Thought my Mcafee was working, but apparently not. I ran it, and it showed up w/ all kinds of trojans and NETSKY virus. I ran it a few times, even went to the site and updated, just in case. It says it fixed everything and comes up clean when i run the virus scan now.

BUT, my email still doesnt work, and our homepage is stil weird.

What else do I need to do? This is driving me crazy. We just bought this puter in feb.

Have you deleted all your cookies and stuff? I'm not a computer expert, but I've had to do that a few times to get some sites working properly.

I found that the best thing to do is format. You'll have to be sure and save any important documents like letters, resumes, tax information, pictures, emails, email addresses, favorites....and I'm sure I'm missing stuff.

Try spybot search & destroy - it's probably adware. :(

LMK if you need a link or help w/ it... nak or would write more...

thanks ladies

bananamama --Yep, have deleted all cookies and temporary files bunches of times.

Snowflake --Have run spybot and ad aware and installed a browser blaster.

cheranne --I was afraid i was going to have to start from the beginning again. I really dont have much on my computer but pictures that will need to be saved. I just didnt want to have to do that if there was something else.

Anyone else before I start that whole thing of starting over?

Oh wow - you've been busy!

Have you tried maybe running a different virus scanner? You could try the free one that's online at www.trendmicro.com

You could also check what processes are running (under ctrl+alt+del and the processes tab if you're on XP) and see what looks unfamiliar and check into those?

Hmmm.... I can't think of anything else...

well, just ran that scan and it came up with nothing either!

i found that thing that shows me what processes are running, but i have no idea what should or shouldnt be there.

i think i'm going to have to call a computer guy and have him look at it. i've about had it. i dont know what else to look at. we've spent so much time trying to fix it, its ridiculous. i mess w/ it when i can during the day and dh is doing what he can in the evenings. we've got hrs upon hrs into this already and it isnt getting any better. i just really didnt want to have to pay someone to fix it if i didnt have to, but it is looking like i have to.

thanks for the help mamas
