Okay, I really hope this wasn't a mistake, but I bought someone's old iMac on ebay for a song. It has the latest operating system installed, and plenty of memory, so I figured it's at least got to be better than what I've got.

So, first problem:
How do we get all our old files onto the new computer? Everything's on the hard drive. Is there a way to network the two together (they're both Macs), created a shared folder, and make the transfer that way? Tim thought of emailing everything to ourselves as attachments. I thought of burning everything onto cds and transferring that way. Any ideas?

The other problem is that the new computer isn't booting up properly, but I've got an email out to the seller to ask about that.

Once we've got the new system going we just have to figure out what to do with the old one. Any ideas on that would be appreciated, also.
