I just finished this book and really enjoyed it. Anybody else read it? Since I liked this book, do you have any others you would recommend?

I read it a few years ago. There was another one along the same lines I enjoyed. I will have to look through my books and see which one it way. You might try going to Amazon's listmania and seeing what other books are in lists with Red Tent.

I'm almost done with it and I love it so much. I'm crying with joy and connection in so many different places. If you know of any similar books, lmk. I'm going to see what else I can find.

There are a cpule by a science fiction writer by the name of Orsen Scott Card. I think, the books start with Sarah, then Rebekah. They read like novel just like Red Tent, which by the way is my all time favorite book ever!

I would really like to read this, does anyone have this book they could pass on to me for cheapo cheapo? ;)

I love it so much already. It seems to be doing a work in my soul and connecting me to my womanhood.

Does anyone know if the book was researched and actually reveals some accurate history about Dinah?

Obviously the story takes place with a very familiar old testament (torah) story and there are a few conflicting things compared to the written scriptures.
However it does enlighten the reader by going deeper on the simple things such as daily life, roles of women and men, etc...

However, after the Shechem story, I don't reacall any written history on Dinah that I am aware of.
Does anyone know if what we are reading is indeed true history becuase it almost seems as it is.

As far as I understand, the story of Dinah is just 1 or 2 verses in the Old Testament. There is a horrific story of Dinah, who married a prince and her brothers killed the men of his land. That **is** in the Bible. I think the rest of the story is historical fiction, though.

I ***LOVE*** this book. Truly!!!!!!

I didn't like the scene about raping the teen girl with a statue.

I will say that was a bit uncomfortable for me coming from my culture, but I don't see that it was a rape. Additionally, it is her experience of it and interpretation of it that most matters, and, for her, it appeared to be a wonderful experience, so I tried not to judge it from my cultural lenses.

But, for me, now, in this culture, no.

Yes, that was strange. But the worst part was thinking of her losing her lover.
In reading the biblical story, I never quite thought of her loving this guy. ANd I am not sure if she did or not, but in this story the whole scenario was so sad.
I would have despised Jacob too.
