A friend just sent this to me -- Free Trees & Plants (http://www.freetreesandplants.com) . Has anyone ever tried it? It sounds like a great idea, but ... Has anyone ever received something "bare root" in the mail? What's it like? Is it hard to get it started in your yard?

seems like a goog deal...but the $6.95 per unit adds up!! at those prices you can go to lowes & buy seeds/starts...kwim?

I did buy blueberry plants off of ebay and they arrived in bare root "form". They looked "sad" to me, but they were the way they were supposed to look...literally *bare roots*.

These blueberries were planted almost 2 years ago in the spring, I believe. They have done very nicely. All 10 plants have survived and we even got four individual blueberries off of them last summer (not even enough for my 5 kiddos, LOL.) They are just starting out, though. They are doing well and we are more than pleased with our purchase. I think it was around 40.00 for the bushes + shipping.
