A friend (with beautiful raised beds) told us that rabbit manure is the ticket for good fertilizer.

What do you know about this? I would like to be well informed before I use it.

Hi!

Rabbit manure is the best, your friend is right. It's the only natural fertilizer that isn't "hot", such as chicken or cow. Hot means it has too much nitrogen, and can literally burn the plants. Both chicken and cow manure have to cure for quite a while. Rabbit doesen't. It's great stuff. I buy a big bag of it each Spring at the local farmers market from a rabbit farmer.

I used to have house rabbits and whenever I would clean their litter box I'd dump their droppings into my composter.........it made the very best, rich soil!

I wouldn't put it directly on the top of dirt.....I would turn it with other composting items (greens, browns, peelings)
