Well-pregnant with a yeast infection again. I don't really want to use monistat. I know this has been asked before-but what have you used successfully to treat a vaginal yeast infection? I am not prone to them unless I am pregnant. * sigh*
I am adverse to the garlic clove-I am just worried that the clove isn't 'clean' enough while I am pregnant-and I'll end up with a bacterial inection...
Thanks in advance : )

I believe that yogurt, both eaten and inserted (plain yogurt, I would imagine) vaginally is suppost to assist in the prevent/treatment of yeast infections. HTH.

Pharmaceutical grade boric acid in gelatin caps is good for treating yeast infections. You can get it at most drug stores. (well, assuming - and you know what that does... - that you can get it in NZ drug stores. ) Otherwise some grapfruit seed extract or tea tree and water douche would work well.

Just to add to the post about using yogurt -
Yogurt works great for battling yeast. So yes, eat and insert it vaginally (the best way to do this is to liberally cover a tampon in yogurt), but make sure that the label says that there is live bacterial culture in the yogurt, otherwise it will do you no good. The bacteria in yogurt is what makes it an enemy of the yeast.
Good luck!!

If you do yogurt it is ESSENTIAL that there is NO sugar of ANY kind in it or you will make it worse.
As for the garlic clove, you will not get a bacterial infection. In fact I think the garlic is "cleaner" than the yogurt. Yogurt has bacterias etc in them and not just the good live cultures. Garlic on the other hand is anti-bacterial. In fact 4 cloves of garlic is equal to an adult dose of penicillin in terms of antibiotic properties. But garlic won't kill good bacteria like antibiotics will.

This is what I have done very successfully:
get a tampon and put 10-15 drops of tea tree oil on it. Insert for 4-6 hours. Repeat for approximately 2 days. Yeast is gone.
I haven't found anything better.
I take GSE orally following the bottle directions.

thank you, thank you, thank you!
apbooklady-great thinking on the garlic thing...you are right-it is a fantastic antibacterial...so it makes sense that it would prevent any infection potential from the potential soil on the clove : )

If you washed the clove and then peeled off the paper part and cut off the bulb end because it is sharp there won't be any dirt ;)
