Try searching "worm composting" or "vermicomposting". HTH.

I don't have any links, but i just wanted to tell you it is definitely possible. I composted with worms in my dorm room in college, and when we lived in an apartment. In college, I got a really small worm bin made for kids. Then in the apartment, I got a "Can-O-Worms," which has stacking trays. You put food scraps in the top tray. When it's full, you take out the bottom tray, take out the finished compost, and put it on the top. It was really easy to use. You can also make your own worm bin out of a plastic storage bin. just poke some holes in the bottom, put a tray underneath, add bedding (peat moss, coir, etc.), redworms, and food scraps, and you're ready. With any worm system, you have to be careful at the beginning that you don't add too much food all at once, because then it will rot before the worms can eat it all. As their population increases, you can add more worms.

We did worm composting! Our first home was an apartment.
