I usually won't make a meal if it will cost us over $6.00 for a dinner dish.
Breakfast is pretty simple....either toast, cereal, the rare treat of donuts or english muffins.
Lunch is sandwiches, fishsticks, or soup.
We average about $10.00 a day for 4 people. That is probably the HIGH end of the average.
We get WIC because dh never knows how much he will bring home. Sometimes he gets almost no pay, depending on how much work comes in. When he is done fixing his truck, he will be working side-jobs along with his regular job. WIC really makes a difference.

Hey Buddy! We are the same! Dinner is usually around $5-6 and the rest of the day is cheap.WIC Oatmeal for breakfast and PB&j(healthy,Smuckers Natural and Simply Fruit on 100%Whole Wheat) for lunch or leftovers.Someday when we're not so broke we'll eat a little bettter!:D! But of course,no matter how much $ I ever have I am thrifty by nature!

I usually spend about $6 for dinners. I will spend more if it means lots of left overs. ie. I will get a $17 roast reduced to $12, but I will use the meat in at least 4 meals or lunches.

Well, I think it will vary on the ages of your kids. If you have babies and toddlers, they eat nothing compared to a teen/preteen, both of which will eat like a full grown man at every meal. So for me to say I spend x amount of $ for each meal/groceries and another mama saying she spends x amount but all of my kids (except 1) are older and hers are all under the age of 7 or 8...it is like comparing apples and oranges. Not the same at all.
That being said....it really varies on what we are eating that night. For a family of 7 (one being only 15 mths and eating very little) we can spend $3 or we can spend easily over $20-$30, it depends on who is cooking (dh cooks fancy, expensive meals) and what we are eating. Average is probably around $7 or so, but I buy in bulk and when things are on sale.
Sorry I am not much help:rolleyes:

Chelle-You made a really good point:thumbsup: My kids are still little.
My mom made a joke when we went to Barnhill's all you can eat buffet one night. The baby was free, but my mom said with the way the baby was eating, they were going to charge us for 2 adults!! The baby sometimes eats more than her brother.:p
