Hi! I know there are lots of mamas here who work from home doing various things. I would love to hear about what you do. I am going to have to find a way to supplement my family's income and need some ideas.
Just edited to add a question. I am wanting to supplement my family's income by about $400-$500/ mo. If you care to talk about it, how much you are able to supplement your family income? Don't have to say a dollar amount, say...I pay the mortgage, or I make enough for fun money. ykwim...

I'm transitioning from working outside the home to working at home. I am a Mother of Eden Make A Difference consultant, selling Fuzzi Bunz and other AP porducts. I have been doing this for a little over a month, so I am still building my business, but so far, the response has been great. (I was a Creative Memories consultant and I cound't pay people to book a party for me!)
I am also training to be a labor and post partum doula. That is not particularly working from home, but the stage I am at (marketing, etc) is all being done from home right now. I basically do my work/research when DS naps and after bedtime.
Good luck to you! There are a lot of people who are successful at direct sales/home party businesses, but it takes a lot of work.

I have had a variety of businesses. The one that had the most onsistent income was my wholesale business. I made cloth baby wipes for a few home businesses. I also designed and manufactured my own pads (before there were 1 million out there) - and wholesaled those to companies, too. I could count on about $400/month in profit when I was doing that.
Right now I am decorating with Home Interiors. I have made as much as $1000 in profit in a month, and as little as $100. I do home shows, fndraisers, personal appointments, etc. I love hwat I do, and usually I have no trouble getting in home shows scheduled becasue I make sure my custoemrs know I love this - and that THEY are getting a lot from having me over to share decorating ideas. I think it's all in the way one presents herself. It cost me right about $150 to start... and I made that back with my first show (which was an open house that I invited everyone I knew, all my neighbors, people I saw at the store, etc!).

I'm starting to work from home with The Stayin Home and Lovin it Team. Right now I'm not making much because I haven't been working the last few months. LOL I love it because I don't have to stock the products or deliver them to people. I just have to love them and tell others about them. You can do that via the internet or phone or locally. It's MY business so I can build it how I want.. that was important to me too. You can work slow or fast... and it's a buisiness that will last a life time too, it'll never go away. How much you make varies greatly by how much you work. You could get a 500 or more first paycheck if you worked hard your first month. I also love the support team I'm with. I never have to work alone. I can call my support team whenever I need with ?'s or comments or to bounce ideas off of them. There's lots of training calls every week that i can plug into to keep me modivated.
Most of all I really beleive in the products, the business and I love what I do! I never thought I'd say that. :)
My mentor is hoping to hit Senior Director with melaleuca by June ... at that level she's making probally 700-1000 a month on the low end and she gets $400 dollars a month to buy the car of her choice! It takes most people 2 years to get to that point, but some have done it in as little as a few months!
The main thing is to find something you LOVE to do.... becuase you won't want to work and won't make it far doing something you hate! Good Luck mama!
Love,
Jess

I've done two things - in home child care (I made $40K/year) and now I do my wahm biz (I don't make anywhere near $40K/year). The in home was much more profitable, but I did it full time. I didn't have my own kids at the time. Plus, I have a degree in education and have done child care since I was 19, so I have tons of references. I charged top dollar.
After Ara was born I took care of one other child for 2 years, until I got pregnant with Simone. I only did it part time and made about $600/month.
My dh also works from home. He works about 35 hours/week and makes a fulltime income, enough to support the rest of us. He does expaditor work for the car dealerships (installs audio, video, and security systems in cars).
