I found them in my salad keeper drawer. Can I plant them this spring? Are they still good? :eyes:{ this is one of my duh moments}

You might be able to plant them now and force the blooms - but this is hard on the bulbs because they didn't get a sufficient root system starting last fall, and they probably wouldn't bloom again the following year (but may the year afterwards). Or I may not know what I'm talking about!

There's lots of resources on the 'net about bulb care - here are just a few:

Gail - last year I planted tulip bulbs I had bought on CHEAP clearance in February and they bloomed that spring. Even if they don't bloom this year though - they'll still probably bloom next year. I say plant 'em. I am all about sticking things in the ground just to see if they come up though. What's the worst thing that can happen??? They won't bloom? They sure won't bloom in your drawer!!! ;) It will be nice to see spring this year won't it?

I just found hundreds of bulbs in my garage. I completely forgot about them. So.......... I planted them. Some of them were yucky, so I didn't plant those.

I, too, figure what have I got to lose? If they come up, GREAT! All I've really lost was about 30 minutes of my time when I planted them.

You must have great soil (or a better method than I do of planting) to finish planting over 100 bulbs in only 30 minutes!

I hate rocky and clay-y soil.

Same here...:wah: What I do is add composted material to the soil. It takes forever to dig the ground up, add the composted material and work it into the ground. Got to love the results of all that hard work though.

I was just curious... how are your bulbs doing, Gail and Missy?

Nothing this year, maybe next spring they will grow.
I noticed that the tulips I had planted did not bloom this year...they came up, but nothing...:confused:

our tulips have *just* started blooming today, so perhaps yours will still bloom, Gail - IIRC you're in a NE state? Anyway, you might also wish to fertilize them, so their root systems do well and they can store the food for better blooms next year.

Enjoy this spring - it's a gorgeous day here today!
