I was hoping someone could shed some light my way. I'm a first time mom, and I'm approaching the time were she's going off formula (only able to bf for a few months ) I was gonna feed her combos of rice/soy/& almond milk. On another board I'm on we had some debates about this. The big thing was the fat content in dairy milk was higher, and thats what the baby needs. Well the fat content in the other milks not as high. Well I was reading my formula contents and the fat content was 5 g, whereas my soymilk was 6 g and dairy milk is much higher around 12. So whats the fuss about? I dont understand. I'm feeding her 1 g higher in soymilk than formula but if I feed her dairy milk, it's 2x as high.
What's the serving size? If a serving of milk is 8 oz, and a serving of formula is 4, then the fat content in the dairy milk would be closer to the formula. If she's eating solids, you could also try increasing the fat in other foods she eats if she's getting less from milk.

Before putting your daughter on cow's milk, if she is under one, cow's milk can higher the chance for asthma and diabetes. If she is over one, just be aware that if she gets lots of ear infections that that could be an allergic reaction to cow's milk. Cow's milk can also cause eczema as an allergic reaction.
Also if under one, most soy milks say to not use as infant formula. If over one, your idea of doing the different milks may work very well for her. Some babies are allergic to soy though.
If using cow's milk, the recommendation is no whole milk after two years of age because the amount of fat needed changes.

THere's no way would I ever give her dairy. We are mainly vegan. It's just that I get "critizied" for not giving dairy. I know she'll be fine with what I am going to give her and she doesn't need cows milk. I think I may have answered my own ? to the fat. The serving size on formula says 5 g per 5 oz. The milks were per 8 oz. So if she had 8 oz of formula that would put it at 8 g of fat? So basically thats around the same amount of fat in the soy milk I have - 2 brands 6 g- 9 g. So cows milk is 4 g more. Yeah so this gives me some reassurance about the fat issue.
