After reading this post I am swearing off regular chicken meat! So, where do you buy organic chicken meat? And at what price? The cheapest I found was $2.50 a lb at a local farm. I would like to get some cheaper, but if that's the going rate, then I'll suck it up and get it.

Thanks mamas! :D

a lot of Hutterite (not quite sure, but I think close to Amish & Mennonite in practice) farms in these parts, and most of the organic chicken & turkey comes from them. I believe it's around $1.49/lb for breasts, less for other parts...

I buy mine from www.ozark.coop. I don't get organic but natural (no abx, hormones, etc. natural food). It is $6.50/lb boneless. A local farm has them (I do not think organic but again natural, free range) for $3 something a pound. You buy two whole chickens at a time. We pay more than $2/lb here for breasts, bone in from the grocer, non-organic.

There was a Saturday Market type thing where we used to live. They sold organic veggies, eggs, chicken & pork. I miss that place...maybe we will have to drive up there when basketball season is over.
