Our last frost date is between April and may 1st. So, according to that I started (from seed) some onions so far. Last year I used the peat pellets...SO easy. This year I got trays. What a PITA! NEVER again. I'm actually thinking about returning the other 3 trays and getting the peat pellets.

So...anyone else starting already?

(I live in KY, btw!)

my three year old daughter and I planted some Zinnia seeds and put them in clay pots in the window sill. Next will be some chives from seed.
Warm wishes,

Hey Stacy - how are your lavendar plants doing? I'm wanting to plant some lavendar in front of the new house, but I can't find whole plants here, Margaret sent me some seeds from her plants last year, but dh packed them up for our move. I want quite a few plants - like 20 or so - how are your lavendar plants doing? Didn't you plant them earlier this winter? I vaguely remember you saying something about planting them quite a while ago, I'm wondering how easy it would be to transplant them. I need like 20 plus plants for landscaping purposes, but to buy them as whole plants they cost about $5 a pop - that's $100 - if I could grow them from seeds that would be the way.

I want to, but haven't yet. I think I may be doing a late garden this year with all the seeds that I have been hording. lol...

I am making many things that they say to put right into the ground, and then others I am buying in flats of starts. Tomatos, peppers, basil, and other hard to grow from seed things I am buying... (other hard to find herbs as well).

means spring to me! LOL

Got 8 tomato plants, and started from seed (in the ground) 40 green bean plants, 8 cuke plants, 32 onion plants, 32 carrots, 2 pepper plants, and misc herbs. :)

Took pics, but it'll take me a few days to get the time to finish my *blueprints* and tally what I've got, where, and how many. :)

I'm waiting to see if the lavender seeds I sent Delpha will grow! I sure hope so.

I believe my DH got the seeds from Park's seed catalog - either that or Burpees, but probably Park's. He slaved over those seedlings, and tended to their every whim until they were over a year old. Even then, most did not make it to maturity. But it was worth it in the end! Let me see if I can find a picture of the garden... (remember, this is *after* I harvested most of the lavender!)
