I subscribed to the Yahoo DSL service because I thought it would make my connection FASTER and it was $26.99 as opposed to $50 for the cable we've had. I am just snailing along here and I'm ready to rip the ****ed thing out and go get the cable modem! I just installed it today, I'm hoping it still needs time to configure itself. Ugh.

I have yahoo dsl and it is fast for me. I don't use their connection manager or browser. I also make sure I don't have too much stuff running in the background. When I had their manager thing running (you know with the little space ship) it ran much slower. You could try disconnecting and reconnecting to the network. That sometimes helps me when I have problems once in a while.

This site has been moving really slow the last day or two.Worse than dial up sometimes lol
But when I go to other places it moves fine/fast....... I think its just slow because the site is so busy.

I got my dsl before they changed over to yahoo completely. I can connect with something called Enternet/Efficient networks. It's the program that I used originally before they completely changed over to yahoo. I'm not sure if you would have got that with yours or not . I think there is an option not to have the connection manager load on start-up of your computer. Maybe under preferences ? I actually used msconfig to turn off a bunch of stuff that I didn't want to have load at start-up, including the connection manager. You have to be careful with that though to make sure you don't turn off any essential programs.

You could try control/alt/delete to see which programs are running. If you have enternet, it should be listed there. I think you can exit the connection manager by right clicking on it in the tray too. Mine used to ask if I still wanted to remain connected to the internet and I would just say yes. I do still use it sometimes for troubleshooting, so I wouldn't uninstall it. I hope I'm making sense because it's kind of late here. It is also possible that there are a lot of people on (since it's the weekend) and that's why it's been a bit slow. I think I had trouble getting on Amitys earlier today.

We had Ameritech DSL before we moved here (before they changed to SBC and merged w/ yahoo), and I hated it. It would freeze on me, pages would take forever to open, etc. We have comcast cable and love it. It cost us $20 a month for the first six months, then at the end of that time I called to cancel it, and they offered me another 6 months at that rate, LOL. I'm glad I saw your post - reminds me that I need to call and "cancel" again. ;)

I'm going to call them and ask them to lower my rate. We have Direct TV now, so the cable internet is about $50 per month. :wah:

We have yahoo dsl and it sucks. We have had dsl and cable before and I think it is the yahoo thing because we have never had this many problems with dsl/cable. One thing that has helped some is to call and let them walk you through changing the settings (I think that is what dh did when he called them).

Hope it gets better.
