I need the instructions for the baby hat (view G) in McCall's 2490...page 2 is AWOL. I had resized my pattern for 4 different sizes (I have those) and I've made a ton of them in the past but now can't remember how to put one together. It's a single rectangle piece, cut on the fold, then like 3 lines of stitches and it's suddenly a hat. It's the cap that has an X on top, none of my other patterns work the same way. I just cut one out and now I'm stumped, LOL.

I'd be eternally grateful if anyone can check their pattern stash for me. I've got a bunch of outfits and no hats to match.

I've only been back online for a few days seeing what you all are up to. Off bedrest now, feeling a little better but my computer chair kills my back & belly. Love seeing all the gorgeous new babies! Keep up the work mamas, you inspire me. SNS coming soon.

Hmmm not exactly sure and I don't know if it's even the same pattern that I'm thinking of... But, I'd say you do one stitch which would close up the back, making it a circle. Then, gosh I'm having such a hard time trying to think of how to say this...

ummm. YOu're going to have to turn the peice so that you finish the last seam in one fell swoop. It's the last part of the "X" at the top of the hat.

Gosh, I'm not making any sense at all. I'm sorry. I have to give up now. LOL

OMG That is the coolest!! I couldn't quite fig the directons so I just went in sewed one up up in like 2 mins!!

you don't even need a pattern

measure head around = (width)

measure head from neck to top not very exactly add 2 inches = (length)

cut rectangle width x length

sew up the length side (so now you have a tube)

quarter one open end with pins ie north south east west

Bring the east and west pins together and pin (just one)

then take the north and south pins and push them into the middle where the east west pin flatten out the sides you shouuld have some thing that looks like a W and M stuck to each other

then you sew across that line (it is 4 layers thick) makeing sure to keep east and west together

while you still have it inside out fold cuff up like 5 inches and hem there then when you turn it inside out you just turn the cuff up
