I went with my dh, a friend of his and my 13 yr old ds.
It was very exciting. Russell Crowe was wonderful. He played a tough, thoughtful, cunning british captain of a ship in the early 1800's.
The cannon blasts were powerful soundwise and visually.
My ds and I closed our eyes for a few scenes (gore we could see coming)
Do not see it with anyone younger (unless you want to horrify them!)
I recommend this film in a theatre (for the sensation of the vast sea and dolby sound surrounding you)
