I sold something on ebay and it ended 2 weeks ago.
The buyer paid and I mailed the item. I mailed it media mail as it was a hand held video game. I shipped it nov 17. Needless to say it is not there yet!
The lady is sort of giving me a hard time. Not so much directly but asking questions like did you put a return address on it. Is this really the del confirm number. Things like this.
I tried calling my post office. They were zero help as we have a very po dunk post office on our af base.
Well what should I do? I guess what can I do is a better question? She also ask if I got insurance on it, I told her no that was her choice not up to me! Is that right? Or should I have put insurance on it?
Thanks
Charity

Does the delivery confirmation show the package as having been delivered? If not, it may be lost. If it's lost and insurance wasn't purchased, you could either tell the buyer that she chose to not get insurance and that you are not reponsible for lost packages, or you could refund her money and make peace with her on it which should avoid any negative feedback.

I did tell her that the insurance was optional as stated in the auction.
It says it is in a town about 400 miles north of her. And has been there since last Wednesday.
Apparently the po told her there was a problem with the bar code on the package?!?!?!

I agree with the above. And I always try to quote prices with and without insurance, and let them choose. When that option isn't there, I choose insurance for them. Recently, I actually had a package I sent to a client opened up somewhere along the way. Some of my items were stolen, the rest was resealed. It disgusted me that someone would do this, but I was able to quickly get a refund for the declared amount (it was insured) plus postage, no questions asked. I refunded my client, and although she's out those products I sent, at least she -- and I -- are not out any money. I also sent a small gift to her, because she was somewhat distressed about the whole situation, and I wanted her to feel comfortable making future purchases from me.
Sorry this got so rambly, but I hope it helps :) Good luck!

I wanted to add that I agree with the others. Sometimes it is better just to wait it out or refund to avoid the negative, especially a neg saying you didn't send it, etc.
I have a few retalitory neg's on my eBay account from deadbeats (didn't pay/resond and one with a fraudulent account) that didn't appreciate the negative I gave them and now I regret it. I guess that's ridiculous, because they deserved it, but it still messed up my account, KWIM?
If I were you I'd rather be out the money, especially if it's not much money. You can always request the funds back from eBay, too.
Just BTW, hand-held video games don't qualify for media mail rate. CD ROMs do, but anything with a computer chip doesn't.

I think only books, videos, CDs and DVDs qualify for media mail. Check with your postmaster to be sure. I had one person on ebay recently ask me to send a puzzle via media mail "because it was printed" - I declined to do so.

A buyer or seller should ALWAYS leave honest feedback. You may be helping someone else avoid the same problem you had. You can follow up on feedback left so you have a chance to explain your end should some one leave a ret. neg. This is why so many people get away with what they do, because people do not leave honest feedback.
As for the package, if she paid via paypal and you have delivery conformation the choice is up to you if you refund or not. As long as you have proof you shipped the package that should cover you with paypal. If you have insurance is buyers resp. in your auction and she declined, well that is her decision and I don't see why you should pay for the item if it is indeed lost.
I also say give it a little more time, I am sure it will arrive eventually.

I did not know this, I dont often use media mail but I do when I send games for the nintendo 64 we have. I guess I will have to stop, I had asked at my po and they said it was ok.
