I'm beginning to nest and am pulling out all the boy newborn clothes. I'm finding stains in stuff that I don't remember having stains when I stored them! DS did spit up a lot as a baby, but it was all breastmilk. I know some of the newborn stains are probably from formula from dd, but a lot of them are breastmilk. Any way to get these out without slaving over them? I'm feeling crunched for time...

Soak them overnight in Biz! It is an enzyme (like Bac Out) and it will take those out!

Oxy Clean has worked on a lot of stains for us, as well as Zout and this stain stick. I had a gel that worked well on whites too.

Jen gave me this stain remover recipe, I haven't tried it yet but I plan to soon. It's not crunchy at all but I figure doing it once or twice is better than replacing a bunch of stained clothing that still fit. She said take a cup of regular, *powder* dishwasher soap, a cup of non chlorine bleach, and a scoop your regular laundry soap. Put that in a load of hot water, add the clothes and soak overnight. Finish the cycle as usual in the morning.

this is the only thing I have had that will actually take out old stains! When I had Alexis last year, I brought out clothes from Hannah 2 years previously---and they had formula spit up on them....and it took them all out!

My MIL gave me this recipe and it works like a charm. For one of my shower gifts she gave us 2 little crocheted sweaters that my husband's gramma made for him when he was a baby. They looked brand new after a treatment in this stuff. It was a very nice present!

I would note that Biz is a digestant, meaning the enzymes will literally eat out the old stains. Sun and other methods work awesome in the short run to bleach them out, but they will work their way back to the surface with time (ie. how you put away clean clothes that came back out dirty). Have fun though... preparing for a new baby!

if all else fails, send them to me to be dyed or tiedyed ;)
all of the handmedowns we got for Roman from my friends and my sis that had any light staining are now very brightly colored. lol

and i work cheap ;)

And LOL, Barb! Wish I had gotten all this out sooner. I could have sent you all the white newborn tshirts to dye. As it is, I'm paranoid I wouldn't get them back in time since I'm due in 2.5 weeks. (Now watch me go overdue a week or more! LOL!)

Have fun nesting and getting stains out, I remember washing all of dd clothes before she was born and LOVED it :)

I just went through this.
I did Oxy Clean overnight and it got about half the stains out.
The rest came out with 2-3 shout stain stick treatments and a wash (no drying between).
