Has anyone gone back to work after being out for like 10 years?
I obviously am not going back to work now with a 3 month old, but I was thinking ahead to when I do --what kind of resume do you do with such a long gap of being not employed? Has anyone done this?
I did secretarial work before kids...

Very good question! I might be in this position sometime too. Just a little bump for you. :)

I would suggest focusing the resume on the SKILLS that you possess instead of chronologically (sp?) based resume. http://www.monster.com has some great resume resources. As someone who has done a lot of hiring, I prefer to see accomplishments, skills and abilities. hth.

Did you happen to do any volunteer/community service work? Did you homeschool? Any sort of experience like that is still work - whether or not you had a salary. I have been employed in some capacity pretty much since I was 15, but I still have volunteer experiences on my resume because in most cases the jobs I had as a volunteer were higher responsibility/learning jobs.

Hope that helps....

be well.

as mentioned.....and not only say that you did this or that (positions you volunteered for) but the skills they demonstrate you have been utilizing.

You won't have any difficulty when the time comes having a very attractive package to offer (organization, supervision, scheduling, managing......etc)
