dd (the almost 6 yr old) likes me to read really scary stories to her. She can read some but doesn't know all the big words yet, going into 1st grade next month.
She likes the Fright Time books, they have 3 stories or so in each, Goosebumps, some other spooky ones.

Any suggestions?
She also likes fairy tales and folk tales, she might go for fairies.
I also think she would like greek mythology. I used to read that when I was her age.

I am looking for more NOT GROSS stories, well ok they can be a little gross but not gory. I bought some books at the thrift store and one was extremely gory yuck.
It had guns and all kinds of horrible detail :eyes:
We didn't read that one!

Jane Yolen writes from picture books up to grownup books. Some of her books are pretty mythic as well as spooky. I read one kids set of stories, like, twenty years ago, and they still lodge in my head.

She has to make a living, so some are more day to day.
