It's been pretty quiet in here! I'm newly resolved to flying since our house went on the market today. I know this is going to be really tough with a toddler, but I think we can do it! The house is sparkling in a way it has NEVER sparkled before and I want my new house to sparkle too! It took us two weeks of unbelievably hard work to make it look like this, and it should never have taken that long. I even cleaned the oven...which I have never done before:eek: and we've lived here over 2 years! I'm trying to remember to start wuth baby steps, but that's tough right now:) At least every room has been completely decluttered (we rented a storage unit to hold anything nonessential so that our home looks bigger). I really can't wait to get started flying. I'm hoping that if I get into a routine here, I'll be able to continue to fly in the new house. It's a LOT bigger (over 2x the size) than this house, so it's going to be a whole lot more work...and I need to be ready for that! I'll keep you posted as to my progress lol. Keep me motivated, ladies! How are things going at your homes?

I've read the SHE books, and was on the FlyLady list for a while. It just didn't work to follow it 100% for my lifestyle. I guess I was doing it wrong because I was stressed out all the time, lol! At any rate, I do use a lot of their ideas and have found a half-way system that works well for me.
Don't you love the feeling of having a clean home?! I kwym about taking two weeks to get it tip-top. It's funny how once you get determined to get it all cleaned up you start finding alll kinds of things to do. It's hard not to go overboard and burnout!

I just started but am having problems getting motivated. I think it is because we are on a late schedule. Which I am trying to remedy as well. Plus we are obviously in a far off time zone because I get the bedtime routine at lunch! Help! I need motivation! I didn't clean my sink tonight. It's still sparkly though.
I've read a ridiculous number of books on keeping the house tidy, but nothing really worked until I discovered Flylady! I don't follow every thing exactly. I rarely make the bed, because between my shift-working dh and co-sleeping dd, it's usually occupied. I wore my shoes at first, but I don't usually anymore. It did help me get going in the beginning, though. My sink is sometimes shiny, but I never use bleach to get it that way. I've found that it was helpful to fol,w the program more exactly until I got used to it, and then adapt it to suit my family better. It feels soooooooo good to finally have the nice house I wanted after struggling for so long! I think what makes it work so well for me is that if you don't get to something, you just skip it, instead of having it carry over to the next day. The work does not build up to the point of being overwhelming. I love flying!!!!

I tried it once but it didn't really work for me, then again I had a newborn at the time. DS is 1 now, maybe I should try it again :)

Who's this Fly Lady and where do I find info....sounds like I need to follow it too!
I used to be so deligent with my house. Then I moved in with a man that was terribly lazy and it rubbed off.
I was brought up in a home that on Saturday morning, we all (parents and bro & sis) cleaned the entire house. Changed beds, changed towels, dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, clean bathrooms....the entire house, the whole shabang! Mom took care of the laundry. I am the youngest of 8 children, but all I remember being at home at this point are myself and 3 others, then it dwindled to just me...and the routine stayed in place until my mother got sick with cancer when I was 16, then it all fell on me.
Fine....until about 5 years ago....guess what I did for 2 hours or so every Sat morn...and if I had plans, I did the house on Thurs or Fri night to make sure it was done EVERY WEEK. And I even had a child through this time.
Then like I said, I got lazy (and older)....now it's all I can do to just keep it picked up.....for sure hard to do cleaning. I still manage to do laundry and towels and sheets every weekend, but everything else falls by the way side.
I can't really do much during the weekdays, as I am a registered day care provider, and have 4 other children with me during the day...and my own 2 1/2yo.
Definitely need some help and inspiriation!!
any advise?
