Molluscum treatment????

A while back I posted about Brenden's armpit having wart like bumps and excema all over it. The excema has gone away, but the bumps are still there. I took him to the ped this morning and it's molluscum. It's a virus that causes warts and it's very contagious. It's spreading. I'm doing some research on alternative treatments as I don't want him to have them burned or lasered off. I've seen GSE mentioned and a few companies have a Heal Molluscum oil. Has anyone ever treated molluscum naturally? KR do you have anything for it?

What was your doctor's reccommendation for it? We've had warts here and the doctor always has us using over the counter gel (applied only to the wart) with duct tape as a covering to keep it free of air. 23 hours with the duct tape on, 1 hour with it off, then recover for 23 more hours. Keep doing until wart is gone (takes weeks usually). We've also had the doctor freeze them before we started treatment which may have helped some. My kids didn't complain much about the freezing but I have heard other kids say it hurts.

We dealt with this for over 2 years! It sucks! What worked finally was to put whilte vinegar in the bath every night, make sure he's not sharring towels, and pat dry, dont rub. I also completly cut out dairy. She was sensitive to dairy as a baby but at 3 or so i started adding ti back in, this is when the molluscum first appeared, coincedence?? maybe?? but I didnt think anything of it. I finally took her to a naturalpath at about 4.5yrs and they said her immune system prob wasnt working properly to fight it off and we should build it. I started the vitamins, eating better, and cutting dairy (which they thought hampered the immune system since her body didnt like it) well, they all just went away, and fast.

There are so many of them I don't know if this would work. They are from his elbow up his armpit and down his torso. He's even got a few spreading to his tummy. He'd be covered in duct tape!!!

The ped recommended a dermatologist. I thought I might try a natural remedy first though.

My DS2 had this. I just waited until they came to a head and then popped them. A ton of granular stuff came out. There was a small hole left after popping the molluscum, but they healed and that was the end of it. None of my other kids got the molluscum. If you don't mind the way it looks, you don't have to do anything about it, they will go away eventually (after a few months).

Milo has several of them. I don't like them of course, but it's really only a cosmetic problem. Our ped recommended doing nothing, and said they'd just disappear in 6 to 18 months. I may try the vinegar trick, but I wouldn't do anything that would be a pita or make him uncomfortable.

Agreed.

My ds2 has had them under his left arm for maybe a year now. Before I knew what they were I popped one (that's all he'd let me do, lol) and caused them to spread. Now we are down to one and it's shrinking...woohoo.

Funny side note:

We have a female cat and she's starting to hit her "puberty". The other day Joshie asked my "Mom, why does the cat have Molluscum on her tummy?"

about the cat Suzie! I've spoken with several people and taken everyone's advice into consideration and have decided to treat with olive oil and tea tree oil 2x/day. Hopefully it'll be taken care of quickly. I do want to get rid of it as it is viral and contagious. I don't want the whole family covered in warts! We, however, have touched it daily and still aren't infected. I don't want to risk it though. Thanks!

I think it doesn't affect adults or kids over a certain age, like 6 or so, can't remember exactly. Milo got his from a friend who was COVERED with them. lol But we still adore him. It was well worth it.

it does affect adults too. I found this out the hard way...a google image search. Apparently it's not uncommon in the genital region.

That's so weird. The ped definately told us that it only affected kids, so I was totally not worried about getting it myself. I'm kinda still not though. I searched the web for pics, including veneral ones, and it actually just doesn't look that scary. lol I think I must have a strong stomach. I think I would be kinda bummed if I had them all over my face, though.

I spose I'm really jinxing myself by saying I'm not scared of it.

vinegar in the bath cleared it up within a week for andrew when he had it. no one else got it, and we've not seen it since.

We've done the tea tree oil and olive oil for a couple of days now and it looks pretty good. We'll keep doing it for a couple weeks. Maybe I'll throw some vinegar in the tub just for good measure this week too. Thanks everyone!
